Oh yeah you're right, forgot about that.
So we will have to wait the new graphic engine from GTR3 for these kind of features :p

Does one have to disable surround gaming when using the option?

    Triples ? Yes.
With the recent racing games named, Forza Motorsport 7, PCars 2, Nascar Heat 2 which all are Three Screen compatible I dare
say that with RaceRoom completing Triples modifications, puts this racing game among the best on the market. Finally I can start playing this game again and as before become a favorite game to play. Please make Triples happen soon. thank you.

Nope, ar least not in any other game that its ever been done in. Completely independent of any GPU settings as long as resolution is 3 monitor one.

Curious - does that mean games are sometimes setup to output triple screen without surround enabled? I've not seen it myself but obviously that does not mean it has not been done! Are their benefits to not using surround?

How i know is that no game runs without enabled AMD, NVIDIA surround mode in a proper triple setup. How far i know is that you need to enable it for AC, Iracing, rf2 etc too, or im wrong?

Project Cars 2? I play with triple screen and nvidia surround enabled, i'll try surround disabled with PC2.
The only game i know that doesn't need to enabled surround is X-Plane 11.

    Regards.

Forza 7 has the exact same triple screen support as RRRE has now which is just one stretched image across 3 screens. I know nothing about Nascar Heat 2, but I bet it is the same. PCars2 is the only one in your list that has true triple screen support.

I has been playing PC2 without nvidia surround, it works fine with triple screen. All configs concerning screens (width, eye distance, angle, bezel...) are adjust inside the game.

You only need activate lateral screens before start the game, nvidia surround it's not necessary. The same for amd eyefinity, i suppose.

In this thread we aren't discussing that. It's to know if the future multi-screen support in RR3 requires nvidia surround (amd eyefinity) or not.

And PC2 is an example where it's shown that you don't need to enable nvidia surround to rendering three separate screens ;)

    Regards.

Any game in windowed mode does not need surround/eyefinity. But for full screen mode this option is required.

You are wrong, PC2 and X-Plane 11 running in full screen mode without nvidia surround, both rendering each screen individually. I've both games and and I've checked it.

This is an example (full screen and surround disabled, read comments below video).

Aha that actually explains alot. Makes sense that windowed mode could work without eyefin/surr just with a typical extended desktop. I always use full screen, hence requiring surround/eyefinity.

Edit: got it on the special cases that work in full screen/standard mode...interesting that they can do this!
