App Offical release of Crew chief version 4 - auto updating and shiny

First of all, Thank you for your work! Your created an amazing app. I just tested it for a few laps, but I already love it, especially with the voice recognition it feels so immersive!
Unfortunetely my name was not n the list and I couldn't find any way to add new names.. Where can I request a name add?
My name is "Till Bernhardt" ((Till like "from monday till friday") and (Bernhardt like "Burn-Hard"))

If you could add my name to the system I would really appreciate it!

 

Sorry i forgot that i had to change my Name due to R3E not liking ä ü and ö. The names van Huelsen now ingame.

crew chief really awesome and my friends and I really enjoy using it every Saturday we race together live on Twitch.

I race with the name "Eric Panda". Crew shief calls me Eric which is pretty awesome.
But for my friends Im always the guy ahead or the guy behind.
So could you add Panda please?
Also Basse would be nice..

I updated the last version today but after that I couldn't open CC. I see it running in Task Manager but I can't open it. I tried to reinstalled CC but no change.

Is that problem only here?

 

nasty... Are there any .Net errors in the Windows Event logs, under Application Events?

then I'm not sure what it is.... Can you zip up your config directory -

C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Britton_IT_Ltd\

and upload it somewhere (it's only small) so I can have a look and see if I can reproduce the error please.

If you kill the app and delete this folder, it'll reset itself to default and will (hopefully) work, but I'd like to see what's tripping it up

Here: deleted.

After deleting this folder, it's works again. But if I change the new config to the old one, CC won't start.

I have the same problem after update.

 

it's the TTS option I think. If you edit your config file in

C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Britton_IT_Ltd\CrewChiefV4[some random crap]\4.7.8.9\user.config and change

Code:

<setting name="use_tts_for_missing_names" serializeAs="String">
     <value>True</value>
 </setting>

to

Code:

<setting name="use_tts_for_missing_names" serializeAs="String">
     <value>False</value>
 </setting>

it should start correctly

 

OK, good news and bad...

I've fixed the issue, but because the app hangs on start up with this Use TTS enabled, the auto updater won't run. So there are 2 options - either update it manually (download and run the installer from here: http://thecrewchief.org/forumdisplay.php?15-Download-CrewChief-for-PC)

Or manually edit your user.config file I as mentioned in the previous post

Hi, Jim.
I've just started using forced pit stops in R3E and have come across a small problem.
Crew Chief tells me when the pit window is open just fine, however if I carry out the stop before the window closes, Crew Chief still tells me I must stop when the race gets to the last available pit stop lap.
Do I have something configured incorrectly?

Sounds like the app isn't recognising your stop. Thanks for the report, I'll take a look

 

looking through the code I can't spot the problem here.

The app will report the pit window state even after you've completed your stop ("pit window closes in 2 minutes", "pit window is now closed"). This is by design.

But it shouldn't tell you to "box this lap" or "box box box" if you've completed your stop. So, do you hear the pit window closing / close messages, or the specific "box this lap" messages?

Also, was this a timed race or a race over a set number of laps?

 

It was a set number of laps and if I recall correctly it told me to box on the last available lap in spite of all ready pitting within the window. Can't really remember what was said in between.

For info, it was FR Juniors at Brands Hatch for 8 laps and change rear tyres only (Win 8.1).

I'll try to reproduce and come back with findings in case I've misunderstood/misinterpreted something.

Yes, I did change tyres, however it was only the rears. Do I need to change all four?
I'll try again when the servers are back up.
