It was superior in its time, and many tracks still look incredibly good, especially the Japanese stages I love. However, compared to R3E, AC and the likes we know of today, the car feels too light, too "toyish". A classic , yes, but then another title that has fallen out of time. I had it reinstalled one year ago, but deinstalled it again very soon. As we say in German: "the better is the enemy of the good".
I always liked Race07 more than rFactor but now it feels like playing Mario Kart compared to Raceroom. I do miss the bug spatter on the windshield though.
The mods are great, there's a certain charm punting a MkII Jaguar around Bathurst or an Alfa Romeo GTA (one of my all time favourite cars) around Macau. Still worth firing up for a change.
"I always liked Race07 more than rFactor but now it feels like playing Mario Kart compared to Raceroom." +1 & thx, spares me blahblah to support your view - exactly what I felt too
