Can only hope the longer dev time means it will be a good, extensive, system. The system advertised in pcars2 sounds pretty nice, both with ratings and leagues.
For having a short experience of the iRacing online features with iR and SR, I am really interested in the ranking system the devs could provide. Maybe the SR could ponderate more the iR when a race grid has to split. It would be interesting that fast (high iR) but dirty (low SR) simracers could risk to compete against slow (low iR) and dirty simracers (low SR). Not to "punish" anybody or kill agressivity, just to encourage safe behaviour. And on the contrary, slow (low iR) and clean (high SR) simracers could race with fast (high SR) and clean (high iR) opponents. Like this, they could improve and learn in a proper way. IMHO, the system would gain not to focus exclusively on the performance criteria
I appreciate you bumping the thread, but I would like to disagree. I can see where you are coming from, but in my experience (18 months) on iRacing, there are not that many 'dirty' racers. Inept, over-confident, narcissistic, eager....? Yes. But not deliberately dirty. And I am in the low end of the IR pool, where it is allegedly the worst. I would rather risk a few bangs, with the attached loss of SR and possibly IR, to actually race with people, than know that my SR is safe because all the other cars are a mile up the track. In R3E you come up against a lot of idiots and dirty drivers, but there are no penalties. The only real option at the moment is league/club racing. But you'll never please everyone......

I asked J-F about it some time ago. I think they got delayed becouse they were asked to develop that race2play feature and now that it is finished they are free to resume work on ranked multi.
