http://www.motorsport-total.com/wec...e-steigt-aus-der-lmp1-szene-aus-17072701.html What happens to the world of the race? I do not want to hear sad news anymore.
LMP1 is pretty much dead now. I am really not looking forward to the electrified future of automotive, both in road cars and motorsports. Most electric cars on the market lacked of personality in design and they are as dull as a refrigerator.
I'm Understand development of electric vehicles is also important for the future. We are hoping for a future where an electric car with unique and nice design will be born. but, I do not want all racing car to chorus with whispering voice. It is the roar of the beast that impresses the fan. We still need the sound of a gasoline engine.
Porsche are going to enter Fomula E with a works team starting 2019. https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/mot...electric-sports-cars-gt-racing-lmp-14003.html
Looks like one of the last decisions from the Cartel - Move all german premium-brands to Formula E... First BMW confirmed there Entry in Formula E, than Audi confirmed there commitment in Formula E with extended Support for Abt Sportsline-Team to a full Audi Works-Team, last week Mercedes Confirmed there Entry for the 6th Season and now there is Porsche...
Best chances to win Le Mans for Toyota in LMP1. Anyway much more competition in LMP2 and LMP3 in my opinion.
To be honest - not a problem for me... Maybe that opens the door for a new Top-Class-GT-Categorie that can fight for the overall victory in le mans against the LMP2.
In the light of the decisions/changes regarding DTM, WTCC, and others I ask my self if the next (global) financial crash is on it's way... I'm pretty sure on one hand they want to produce expensive hightech vehicles but on the other they seem to be forced to drastically reduce costs/or to invest more into future technologies (look at hybrid cars/ Formula E) - which might not be a bad thing , so that we might get some low-cost back-to-the-roots series (like classic supertourers) for the average everyday normal guy (racer)..
@Fairman Not a case of if the next crash is on the way, but when. ...and this one will be worse than the last.
When you read this on a simracing forum, I think that it means that it is soon... (and hopefully a Soon™)
Perhaps I'm an old guy now and I'm that guy I always hated when I was younger, because this guy told me "the old times were the good/golden ones" and "everything was better"... yes, perhaps I am this guy now, but for me motorsports is not only the car itself, it's the sound, the smell of burning rubber and gasoline... it's dirty and loud! I don't like this Formula E 'thing'... no, I think it's disgusting!... I'm a little bit worried about the future of motorsports...
Car manufacturers invest in motorsports for advertising, and since the future of cars is electric and that's the image they want to show, they are all rushing to Formula E. So you can't get too attached to gasoline. The problem in my opinion is that despite becoming faster since their conception, Formula E cars are still really slow. They try to hide it with tiny tracks, but it just ends up looking more like a big Kart race than race cars. I'm pretty sure that in a few years time, like it or not, we'll see an electric closed-wheel series too. E-Touring if you will. I just hope they can make them fast.
Once upon a time there was a race category called FormulaE. "Private team" gathered, and everyone enjoyed the race with happiness. There, "Works team" brought "a lot of money" and came. "Put it in a group!" Everyone was pleasantly welcomed. Then, more and more "Works team" increased. "Works team" uses "lot money" to make something better than other teams. Even the rules will be changed by "power of money". With "power of money", will do something sinful. "Private team" is not rich. There is no power like "Works team". "Private team", the race became boring. "It's not fun!" "Private team" is no longer playing with FormulaE, only "Works team" remained. When only "Works team" remained, FormulaE became a bad place due to the power of money and politics. "Works team" said "I'm spend too much money", stopped playing with FormulaE. the end Please create a new race category.
