I'm sure a lot of us (including me) would say it particular rig issue. I though the same, but did some research using google and found more the same cases.

Long story short, R3E does switch my computer into stand-by mode. Yes, unbelievable.
In system logs I found an event:
Believe me or not, I have none of them.
Moreover, It never happened before in any game and still doesn't happen, until I run R3E.
In R3E, it never happens while on track. Always in menu (as far as I remember in circle-style menu as well as in main section menu (RRRE or ADAC). Usually after leaving some racing session.

I curious that issue has been noted/discussed already.

    with regards

    Hi MaXyM

This has been reported by few players so far and it's one of the strangest bugs. We technically do not have permission to put your system to sleep or shut down.

We have not been able to reproduce this issue which makes it very hard but so far most scenarios point to a common issue.

    - Issue seems to occur while in old (the green orb) menus.
    - It's not an instant restart or shutdown so it doesn't seem to be system fail-safe kicking in as if the pc was overheating.

We would like to get more information about the issue. Whenever a system or windows related issue occurs, it usually leaves trails which can be found via the Event Viewer in Windows. If you can go to Event Viewer and check for any errors or warnings at the timestamp the sleep/shutdown issue occurred, please let us know what it says.

Guys, I still do not have a solution to this problem.
It's been at least a year of me reporting it.
Since I initially reported it, I've changed my videocard and harddrive.
    The problem still exist.
    It's not a power issue.
No other game, benchmark or program in my system does it.
I'll sometimes be browsing through RRE2's menus and 'bam' shutdown signal.
The computer doesn't abruptly go off.
It'll either go into a hibernation-type state or a full shutdown just as if the windows shutdown command is sent.
I'm hesitant to buy anymore cars or tracks at this stage, as I haven't had the opportunity to enjoy the ones I've already purchased.
I've had far less use of RRE3 than any other game on my computer because of this issue.
    It rather frustrating.

I've supplied lots of data to R3E.....as much as I can...Dxdiag file, logs, system specs, etc....
Why am I having such a hard time getting a solution to this issue?
I've purchased a few cars and simply cannot use them.
I never know when the game is about to shutdown.

    Hi,
Does this still occur after the latest patch?

I simply don't want to take the chance of downloading 9 gigs of data, only to find out the same thing is happening.
That shutdown occurred the last time I used RRE2...which was three weeks ago.
It was after that I set Steam to no further updates for the title.

Okay! I 'bit-the-bullet' downloaded that massive 9Gig update (took two days), bought the American Track Pack and the Group 5 Pack.
    Let's see what happens now.
Hopefully I can finally have some fun with this title.
