Technically speaking, from left-to-right that's the 2013, 2015 and 2014 919s, in the colour schemes they will sadly only use at Le Mans.
Yes, only the Red is in the 2015 configuration. Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley et Mark Webber : Red Car Romain Dumas, Marc Lieb et Neel Jani : Black Car Nick Tandy, Earl Bamber et Nico Hülkenberg : White Car
The Nissan went up in the air at Flugplatz and slidet headfirst into barrier and flown into the spactatorarea. There is a Video of it but I wont link it. R.I.P to the one spactator and best Wishes to the injured spactators to get well soon...
Awful accident there. Inevitably, this is why race track design has moved towards increased run-off areas for driver and spectator safety. As much as we revere circuits like the Nordschleife, they just don't make much sense in the modern age of motorsport.
Quite unfortunate event.By the way, there have been rumors that the spectators were sitting on the trackside of the fence. Can anyone confirm or dismiss this?
No, they were sitting behind the large catch fencing and in front of the 'old' barrier. I've been at that spot and I'm not sure if you're allowed to be in that area or not - pretty sure you are. Either way, it's a horrible freak occurrence but I hope there isn't too much rumour mongering or scapegoating as a result of it. No doubt there will be sensible changes made (and I doubt the 2015 Nissan will race at the 'Ring again), but no-one saw this coming and I don't believe it would be reasonable for anyone to have predicted it.
Reminds me to Mark Webbers "take-off" at Lausanne/LeMans....nearly the same, though nobody was harmed (actually a miracle that Webber just got a few scratches cause he literally flew above & into the trees...)
