Just wondering. I read comments about the driving that was not exactly close to perfection and imo (from looking at the videos) the cockpit interior is not too good either...better than most rF2 cars, but not even close to AC, pCars and (looking at the new BMW) R3E standards.
I'll wait for the whole shebang to buy it (I will for sure). I highly doubt is a poor "mod". I expect the physics / handling to be pretty well made under all track conditions - green to fully rubbered and hopefully they did wet tyres for it too.
Well, something has changed.. I cannot work it out. I have not played RF2 for a while, too much going on. So, new car out, buy it, to do my bit in supporting them. Fire up the game, and it looks bad. Really bad.. Last time I played it looked great. I have not changed anything, graphic wise. It is really headache inducing. Frame rates are good, in the 90s.. Oh well. Maybe it is the updates. Not too impressed with the car. Outside ok, inside looks rushed. Handling can be a bit strange. Sure it will be down to set-up.. Well, maybe.. Tried the same car in RaceRoom, way more balanced..
RF2 has moved to DX11 beta. The tracks that are adapted look really great (better than before). The non adapted tracks mostly look (a lot) worse. If you are still on DX9, the updated tracks may look worse too. Maybe this is the issue you have ?
Thanks for the suggestion, however I am running it in the DX11 beta mode. Did try running the 'old' DX9 mode, and that did look really bad.. I will have a play with some settings this afternoon. it's raining outside...
I thought they have been building it from scrap but as far as I can see it is a reworked version of an older Zandvoort track that I had for months now. Comparing the "new" to the "old" version I already had installed: It is mainly the same base, that has been reworked in some regards: - several rescue cars and a standing helicopter have been removed - all waving ad flags were removed - the tarmac is darker, but almost no visual rubber - some trees have been removed/replaced (I'm glad the set of palm trees in turn 9 (Marlboro corner) is gone now) - a bit of the landscape outside the track has been improved - the static marshalls in the marshall towers have been replaced by animated ones - some spectators have been added on the hill before turn 12. A downside is the shadow (like the shadow of a cloud) that is always some 50 meters in front of the car, making the surroundings darker than they should be. It's less noticeable on the track itself though, but the grass and armco's suffer. I got rid of that disabling shadows, but then it looks a bit weird to me. Setting shadows to max, the "cloud" is still present, but higher and further from the car... Another point I don't fancy are the blue-ish transparent contours around some trees... The feeling between both tracks was about the same, lap times and AI too. All in all not really bad, but needs (lots of) work to be good. The 'old' version has some details I liked, but is not adapted to DX11, which results in an overly bright view at certain times of day. For the moment I'll keep both versions. The 'old' has a bit higher immersion factor to me (apart from the stupid palm trees that is... ) The tarmac looks way better and more 'real'. Now, I know Zandvoort (IRL) has be resurfaced a while ago, so maybe they want to replicate that ? FPS is about the same, small differences at some parts of the track, but all in all mostly around 75 on my system (with 15 cars on track). They 'rushed' to get the track done for the McLaren competition, but since I feel it is a reworked version (lots of identical items around the track), it should have been better done before. Edit: it IS a reworked version. The studio seems to have bought it last year from the original maker, who actually built it from scratch. So they really could have delivered better work than this.
I love rf2, But I think they rushed to launch this track, which needs a lot of work to be at Nola level, for example, zandvoort on r3e is absolutely superior
Yes, it does need work. Lots. Fine example of releasing content before it is finished. Don't do it. Causes you more harm than good, in the long run. Really not impressed.. I had concerns about how they managed to make a track from scratch, what with everything else going on. Totally agree with Fanapryde, it really is a reworked version. And it is not good enough, if they wish to move forward. Shame.
I had this installed before, DX9 version. Wish there was a Le Mans track in the actual layout. Sadly no news about 'fixing' the issues of the Radical...
