This thread is strictly for fun and curiosity.
I started PC base racing sims with a wheel 4 yrs ago. I live in Hawaii. The term slipper slobs was invented here. Most people don't wear shoes. Most of us wear flip flops, slippers, rice flippers, what ever you want to call them. We even wear them to weddings and funerals. And because of the red volcanic dirt, almost nobody wears shoes or slippers in the house. The red dirt stains everything, and it doesn't wash out.
So I started my sim racing "career" wearing socks only.
My over all favorite cars for the last few months has been the legends. I love them all. So recently, I've been trying to master the clutch. And I've learned that Socks just don't work for the heal toe/brake gas thing. For me at least. I tried using slippers, that was worse. So I bought a cheap pair of shoes specifically for my console. That's the only time I wear them, is when I'm racing.
I have to admit, I was not expecting such a different experience. I found that I tended to rest my left foot on the brake peddle, which has stopped. Couldn't figure out why everybody was so much faster on the straights. I also have a better awareness of the gas peddle:rolleyes:.My lap times have come down. And my general car handling and level of fun has improved.
I guess logitek wasn't kidding when they said "always wear shoes with this product" (or something to that effect) in the instructions.

This special item was studied especially for driving fast cars in extreme conditions. Its particular flexibility coupled with incredible aerodynamics make it your perfect asset for modern racing simulations.

Only possible way to drive and race here in Germany, as required by law.

But seriously, it's way too warm at home for me to wear some kind of shoes. Socks are more comfy.

I use these, absolutely fantastic for sim racing. After they break in a bit you won't want to race without them. Search for a better price, I only paid $35 usd a couple years ago.

Puma Speed cats (Ferrari edition) or ( when colder) my Sparco karting boots.
I used to race with socks and sometimes even barefoot, but with my actual Heusinkveld Pro pedals that is not really comfortable.

Every human being with a shred of dignity should always wear shoes, period. #IhateFlipFlops
For real life driving I prefer to use Puma shoes too, Speed Cat or Drift Cat. Thin enough soles and resonable price. There's even themed ones, like the Ferrari one which can be obtained for ~60 bucks.

I wear socks at the moment, but I'm thinking of buying shoes for simracing (because it's sometimes a bit painful for heel & toe)...

Are racing gloves also a good thing? What are the advantages of using that?

    I wear these for simracing

    nike speedsweep 3.jpg

Nike Speedsweep 3 wrestling shoes: they have a narrow sole and are very flexible, which gives a great feel for my T3PA Pro pedals. Can't drive with socks anymore since I installed the Ricmotech load cell brake mod...

Got a pair of these as well, but don't use 'em for simracing 'cos I don't feel the pedals enough, especially the throttle. They're great for real-life driving though.
