Yesterday I've got an email that the Pro Sim H Pattern Shifter is available for preorder again. I tried to avoid eye contact with the price tag and placed an order. Should arrive end of June. When the boy is finally mounted I'll post some pics to help you maintaining your this thread.
Ok, we see a lot of really fancy and adorable but sometimes quite pricey stuff in this thread. So maybe it's time again for some more "lower end" equipment to be shown. I'm a real motor fan, both on 2 or 4 wheels. In real life and when it comes to games (oh sorry: sims ). Due to the Corona situation I started to race in GT Sports with a PS4 and therefore bought a Thrustmaster T300 and a Playseat Challenge because I needed something which can quickly be arranged and removed in front of the TV in our living room. But GTS was far from what I really wanted to do. So finally I made the switch to PC (and literally entered a new sim universe by that), built up more and more stuff "around" my Playseat and meanwhile moved my equipment to a personal "nerd corner" after our daughter didn't need her teenie room any longer. I love to race (or fly) there (especially with VR!). For sure there're still some things which would be great to have (please don't tell my wife ), but with a few improvements and additional DIY things I'm really happy with my "low end" solution. And hey: you always need some further goals in your life . CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X | GPU: AMD RX6800 | Mobo: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge Wifi | RAM: 32GB G.Skill RipJaws V 3200 MHz (CL16)| SSD: 1TB Samsung 970-Evo Plus M.2, 1TB Samsung 860-Evo | PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 11 (750W) | Monitor: LG 47LM669S TV | VR: HP Reverb G2 | Wheel: Thrustmaster T300RS | Pedals: Thrustmaster T-LCM | Shifter: Thrustmaster TH8A | Rig: Playseat Challenge (modified), DIY parts & furniture, bass shakers (2-channel, Sinuslive BassPumpIII/Nobsound NS-10G driven by SimHub)
Well there's nothing low end about your PC spec! But yeah, you don't have to spend a fortune to have a lot of fun in sim racing. T300 is a really really good wheel for the money.
Oh, yes. The decision to go for a PC was the hardest one. Especially because it should be capable to deliver at least a decent VR experience. But after all it was absolutely worth it. Enjoying it every day (or night ).
@SchlesiM I really like the ambient lighting in your room as well as the checkered flag and framed picture behind the screen. Looks like a nice place to chill and forget about real life for a while.
In fact it is. Something like my "oasis of calm" to relax and just be focussed and happy after long, hard working days (ok "calm" isn't quite the right word for this maybe ...). Some "romantic reminiscence" to good old Windows desktop .
Someone said more "lower end" , no prob. I am fairly new to the game ,some 40/ 50 ranked races so far. So here is my pc spec: Cpu : i5 4460 Gpu 1050ti Ram 8 gig. Ddr3 Monitor : Samsung 60 herz. I know it is a bit old and slow , but it gets the job done . At least for now. And now the "star" of the show This setup was done in one afternoon using only the scrap wood i had around the house. It is in the prototype/test stage . And will be upgraded eventually. I found a used Thrustmaster Ferrari forcefedback wheel for only 20 euros on my local listing. It was practicaly new. The seller said he only used it for couple of days and that i should work fine. In the end , when I conected the wheel it spun hard to the right and stayed locked to the right. A little research and I found out that the problem was with the usb 3.0 drivers. So I dowgraded to 2.0 and pooof. A working wheel. Setup seems fine for now ... Will have to do some tinkerning with the wheel at some point as it is starting to show some stres wear signs. Here are some pics , first two are after the build. And the third after a couple of weeks of use.
View attachment 23049 Newly built rig, went from a single screen desk mount, swivel chair setup. This sure way nicer to race in. It's the trak racer tr8 rig with floor mounted triple monitor stand. Also what blends the monitors together is the Asus bezel free kit. Wheel base is accuforce v2 pro together with load cell (90kg) equipped CSL elite pedals. Sequential shifter is from dimsim. Monitors are msi 27" 144hz 1ms.
Nice.. I have a triple setup for a long time ago and I never had issues with the bezels but I see ore and more triple setups with this bezel free kit and now I’m think to buy a set for myself after all.
Yes I quite like it, although it isn't perfect. There are some small artifacts in the moving picture but I still like how it looks compared to the bezels and most people seem to prefer it once they've tried
Only the price is a bit over the top so to speak. I don’t know if they will fit on my setup. If they where a bit cheaper than it is no problem to buy and see. But with the current price it is a bit of a money waste when they do not fit...
Wait, you telling me that there's another serious H pattern shifter which will cost a good amount less as the Pro Sim shifter after I preordered the latter? Now this is great timing buddy! Never heard of this fine piece of hardware before. Thanks for the heads up.
Yup, they are pretty new on the market, only started up a few months ago. Will have to give it some time testing, but first impression is really positive! Can't say anything about the long term yet, but man this will be a hard comparison!
Nice, is that a wind simulator or regular fans? I'm looking to ad something similar, just a cooling fan system that is. Is that just flexible ventilation pipe?
Thanks Sunny, it's a wind Simulator and the piping can be purchased off eBay or other websites (Air induction pipe) - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Air-Inta...-/163804946718?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
