That's right. The Home of British Motor Racing is coming to RaceRoom! If you followed our past Dev streams you are probably already aware that we started working on this track a while ago. After it was put on hold in order to finish our laserscanned Nordschleife and other projects, track artist @Alex Hummler is now back on track to finish this popular british circuit located in Northamptonshire. Silverstone is built on the site of a World War II Royal Air Force bomber station, which opened in 1943. The airfield's three runways lie within the outline of the present track. In 2010 the track went under a lot of reconstruction work also introducing the new "Arena" layout, which has been designed to create better overtaking opportunities, but keeping the high speed corner combinations which make this track so unique. The new Pit complex was designed by the same architects as the London 2012 Olympic Stadium and is shaped like a wing, paying tribute to the old WW II Airfield. The circuit hosts many national and international Racing Series, such as the F1, WEC, MotoGP & BTCC. Stay tuned for more information!
Fantastic! This is my nearest proper race track, so I'm a bit biased about this track. Can we have the full Brands Hatch track next please?
Never been a favorite of mine but it's well suited to a lot of the cars in the sim so it's definitely one to get. Glad to see a track announced in the midst of all the cars even if it was one we all kinda knew about already. Keep'em comming S3.
Awww yeah! Finally my 'go-to' track for testing cars, feeling them out, and getting baselines down will be arriving! Can't wait!
