Yeah, don't think FANATEC logo would show up on their T-shirts...

I am looking forward to this - quite a lot!
I was disappointed with the original, as it never ran quite right on my PC. I spent a lot of money upgrading but couldn't get rid of intermittent lag. Steam Stats show 400+ hours on the game, so I guess I wasn't that disappointed.....I'm not a fast driver, and didn't realise how much that lag was affecting me.
But as a 'not fast driver' I can really appreciate the graphics. It will distract me from things like 'realistic handling' and NTM6.5 etc. And PCars 2 definitely looks distracting.
And I thought that the music in the video above was going to go into 'Butterflies and Hurricanes' by Muse. (Spoiler alert: it doesn't.) That alone would have sold it to me.

Yes, I really am that shallow.

Be assured, you are not alone as far as looking forward goes.
I started pCars1 on PS4 (coming from GT5/6) where I had a little over 1000 hrs, in pCars that is. I had to deal with some bugs (not a lot really) and after I finished career, I moved to pCars on PC, mainly for triple screens. Since then I had NO bugs at all, finished career a second time (all races at full lenghth) and there are 805 hrs on the counter, which makes a grand total of +1200 hrs.

I now divide my attention between R3E - AMS - RF2 and AC, occasionally putting in some laps/races in pCars. And each time I realise again how nice the graphics are, how I love the weather, day/night cycle, lively surroudings and - yes- the FFB. Granted that FFB is much too complicated - I really hope SMS has that issue solved - but once you get it right, it is at least on par with the rest of the sims. There is some lack on the physics side, but not with all cars. That is something that needs attention too.
Will buy pCars2 as soon as it hits Steam, though personally I don't care for off road and ovals and I hope SMS is not going to include it in career mode.
Would love some more tracks (SMS seems to use a kind of drone-laserscan now) and race cars.

Does anyone have some suggestions for ffb on the g27 (I'm too lazy to search this entire thread)
Feels heavy and unresponsive too me.

I'm sorry, but Pcars is absolutely unplayable for me in VR with my Rift. The performance is OK, but it has crazy flickering graphics and autoexposure issues. And I could never get the FFB to work like in Raceroom or AC. On long straights, the FFB feels absolutely dead with my G25. Pcars is an arcade racer for people with gamepad, who don't use the cockpit view. So, I won't buy Pcars2 and will wait for GTR3.

Disagree completely. Most people that actually used gamepads found it almost impossible to drive.
I am using V2 base and FFB is really good. Oh, I only drive cockpit view...

    Actually i agree with Frank.
@Fanapryde i sort of envy you.
I tried for hours to get my T300 to work with this game. I spent more time trying to get the car to feel like anything or something that resembled driving a car and i gave up. I spent more time trying to get that going than actually playing the game.
I do however feel like its pretty good with a gamepad.

If anyone has a config file for T300 that works right out of the box i might re-install the game.

    OK question number 2.
Could someone PLEASE translate the basic FFB calibration instructions into laymans terms for me.
They spent WAY TOO MUCH effort trying to sound professional. I'm actually a techi kind of guy, rather proud of it, but this garble is :flushed::fearscream::rage::weary:

The FFB I'm actually running in pCars for Fanatec V2 - (so it may differ (probably does) for G27 and TM wheels (I remember using a backup G27 from a friend when my Fanatec base was RMA and I did not like it at all, but then again the G27 was my first wheel and I did not like it from the beginning).
I have also used a T500RS with pCars on PS4. FFB was not bad either after some tweaking, but I can't find my notes about the settings (may have deleted them)...

    General:
    Tire force 100
    Per wheel movement 0.00
    Per wheel movement squared 0.00
    wheel position smoothing 0.04
    deadzone removal range 0.00
    deadzone removal falloff 0.01
    linkage scale 0.00
    linkage stiffness 1.00
    linkage damping 1.00
    relative adjust gain 0.00
    relative adjust bleed 1.00
    relative adjust clamp 1.00
    scoop knee 0.00
    scoop reduction 0.00
    soft clipping (half input) 0.00
    soft clipping (full output) 0.00
    menu spring strength 0.40
    low speed spring coefficient 1.00
    low speed spring stauration 0.35
    steering gain 1.00

    CAR:
I use roughly the same settings on every car, except the Master scale, which depends on the kind of car and vary from 9 to 17
Master scale between 9 and 17
    Fx scale 54
    Fy scale 54
    Fz scale 60
    Mz scale 90.01

    Fx smoothing 0.0
    Fy smoothing 0.0
    Fz smoothing 0.0
    Mz smoothing 0.0
Arm angle between 500 and 1500 (depending on the car)
arm setting (mostly locked and I don't change the values)

For Fanatec V2 users, the settings on the wheel:
    sen AUT
    ff 100
    sho 100
    abs OFF
    lin OFF
    dea OFF
    drl 001
    for 100
    spr 050
    dpr OFF

I feel sorry for the guys who don't have the FFB right - I suffered the first months too and I have been swearing a lot on the much too complicated and hard to understand instructions) - but taken some time, effort and hit 'n miss, it is very well possible to get it right. And once you do, the FFB is really good.
Hope this is going to help ... ;)

PS: @MeMotS the correct pad support only came after a few updates. Before that people were complaining all over the place.

    Some thoughts on pcars2:

-The FFB menu is very simple now and easy to understand/manage. You can change it on the fly when you're in a race session.
-on "finished" cars the FFB feels very detailed and good. With default settings it is already on spot with my t300. Nothing compared to pcars1.
-handling and driving feels much more evolved in comparison to pcars1. Also I can only speak of the "finished" (or most advanced) cars.
-same for sound. The Amg Gtr gt3 from gameplay videos is nothing against some other gt3 cars I drove today. With some of them hell really breaks loose. But it's only a few cars so far that impressed me very much. But I wouldn't say it surpasses r3e sounds... I think it's on par.
-braking is too easy at the moment I think.
-rain, weather progression, seasons, aquaplaning, drying race line etc are an absolute blast and visually spectacular.

My i7 6700K and GTX970 handle the game very good with most graphical options on ultra and some lowered to high. Stable framerate even when rain and many lights come into the action.
-When it gets too dark from overcast sky or it begins to rain the AI switches on light.
-The AI in general seems very stupid at the moment and very reckless.
-glued cars when they have contact is still a problem at the moment
    -Manual pitstops are real
-rolling starts are fun. As the leader you can dictate the tempo everyone has to follow before the lights turn green. Otherwise you have to follow and hold your position.
    -formation laps may be coming
-penalty system is very intelligent and fair
-Tire squeaking has many different sounds and not only one. So you have more diverse aural feedback from them. It really helps.
-Livetrack 3.0 is working fantastic. I already had some fun with one side of the car aquaplaning through a puddle on a straight, that was a shocking moment while I tried to get the car under control. It really feels like aquaplaning in a real car at 150km/h.

But there are things that will never make pcars2 my favourite sim.
First of all the road cars, I don't like them. I only want race cars.
I want a game that concentrates on race cars and race tracks. And not a single game with road cars, race cars, rally cross... after the rallycross tracks there won't be so many more new tracks.

For the remaining months before the release I think they have a shitload of work to do, like polishing and unifying the UI over all screens, finishing all the new sounds and car physics, enhancing the replay screen, ...yepp there is still much to do.
I think I will play gt3 and gt1 cars (oooh there are some treasures) and mostly for endurance races.... the rest really is not so interesting for me.
So I bet my money on GTR3 and future R3E now, since Ian Bell didn't want to make a GTR3 because "specialised racing games don't sell enough copies to justify a sequel"
Good that not every developer shares his opinion.

Since some simracing outlets already talk about these features here I don't think I violated the NDA. Still not spoiling cars/brands/tracks/major secret features. But most is obvious and already known anyway.

That sounds ... mostly ... good.
I don't like driving road cars in a racing game either, so there is a downer.
    Same goes for the rallycross.
And I read SMS were going to add oval racing too, another thing I don't like.
Ice racing could be fun for a while, but....

Yeah... Ice racing seems more like a gimmick to me. And oval racing just seems to be there in a minimal amount to satisfy the needs of the North American buyers.
I get the impression if you want too much (as a developer) it's more likely for you to fail at the basics. And also it seems that no race class is thought entirely to the end. I can't say that this is the case with pcars2 because there are "Motorsport filters" and rule presets... but I have the feeling that it won't deliver the whole and complete racing experience I would expect. Something that I already have in R3E.

Ok I checked again in the WMD forum.
I can talk about features etc. but not about tracks, manufacturers, car models etc (licence negotiation things and avoiding eventual fines...)

So you're basically free to ask me (almost) anything.

Sadly, we're still not allowed to share videos or screenshots (again, licence thing etc.).... but maybe some Audio sneak peak? :D

Anyone else experienced this? Mid race and it starts jumping about like a demented kangaroo:eek:

    Something I have set wrong?
