Will this be fixed? With the DTM '92 right now there's little value in qualifying because anyone behind in an Audi will just sail through the entire grid like they're traffic cones.
Cars are correct, you need to use rolling start to prevent 4wd rocketing the start and pass everything. It's the same thing with turbo vs na engines- especially noticable in gr5
I feel a history lesson coming on! Audi went circuit racing in the late 80s having already wiped the floor with their Quattro in the World Rally Championship during the first half of the decade. Some more reading about that here. The series selected were the TransAM and IMSA GTU/GTO series in United States as well as a program for the domestic DTM series. The aim was to promote the benefits of their four-wheel drive system on more 'normal' terrain. The most significant benefit being superior traction, which as you've noticed, is evident with our 4wd cars in RaceRoom. This is certainly not a bug and it's something which was well known as an unfair advantage in the real series. Audi's Quattro cars won the DTM series in 1990 and 1991 then pulled out during the 1992 season over a technical disagreement. Stateside they won the TransAM series in 1988 (their only attempt) and won many races in the 1989 GTO series, which was again their only attempt. There's some more reading about the cars here. To summarise, the cars were very quick and compared to their rivals held an unfair advantage of superior traction which is what's represented in RaceRoom. To clarify that, we haven't simply "given it an advantage" - dialling in the right parameters for the car simply does that for us.
That's correct. The weight was raised up to 1.300 kg but at the Nordschleife it was reduced to 1.250 kg for the remaining season. For comparison, the BMW M3 and Mecedes 190E weighed 980 kg, the Opel Omega 1050 kg and the Ford Mustang 100 kg.
So can we have rolling starts for the ranked '92 races? Back in May the Hockenheim races were rolling start but since then they've gone back to standing.
