I have a 27 in monitor and sit approx the same again from my screen. I've been using x8 for a while but thought I'd try a few out. The official calculator says x5 but that is really close.

It's rare that people use the 'correct' FOV when on single-screen.
It's simply a matter of suddenly losing all of ones peripheral vision. You rarely see real racers running with blinders on. ;)
I think I was running 0.7 when I was on single-screen (34" TV), and that was plenty close enough.

After a week and a bit adjusting to cockpit driving ive tried from .6 to 1.2, .6 is way too short, 1.2 way too long, have settled on .8 even that feels a little short. For me between .8 and .9 is about right.

I'm using the Default FOV @ 1.0 on my Single-Screen and the seat far back so that I can see atleast the left (or right) side-mirror. It's just a compromise to get a little focus on the apex without loosing to much of the peripheral vision. Really not easy on single-screen to get a bit peripheral vision...

49" screen FOV set to 1.1 use to be 1.3 and I might go back to that but trying a closer FOV and so far it seem to work better :D

0.9 on a 21.5" monitor, with the Crew Chief app to tell me what's going on beside me.

I use 0.5 with 37" TV and EDTracker (a good and cheap Head-Tracker) and Crew Chief. Works pretty good!

0.8 on mine, big big projector screen sitting as close as I can. I don't use crew chief cos the voice is too sexy and distracting

when interested in headtracker you should watch some videos on YT. it works with many games. It doesn't need a camera, just USB-port on your PC. It's a small box that's attached to a hat or your headphones.
You can use Yaw, Pitch and Roll. TrackIR has same plus X,Y and Z axis movement, but costs 4 times the money (or even more if you chose DIY EDTracker)

https://www.edtracker.co.uk/ in the video at the main page you actually see R3E footage :-D

now i can look at the mirrors and to the apex AND can use 0.5 FOV... i love it.

Edit: I just noticed that they're selling a wireless version soon. great!
