    Actually something like this:

When I was about 12 or 13 years. It was not this exact chassis, but it was a Swiss Hutless from this time and looked very similar to this one. Mine was equipped for a class that afaik only in germany existed, called Pop 100. This class was very strictly reglemented to make karting cheaper. Only one sort of engine was allowed, a Komet K55 from IAME. It had 100 cc and plastic valves, so no rotary slide. Two stroke of course.

And only one sort of tyres was allowed from Bridgestone. These tyres were so hard, you could easily use them for several race weekends and they even got slightly quicker with time - at least up to the point when the steel tissue came through... :D

My first kart also had this mechanical break you can see in the picture. I can remember not beeing too happy about the introduction of hydraulic breaks in karting. They were more expensive and always a bit failure-prone. And to be honest, for a kart of this era you didn't need the extra breaking force of the hydraulic breaks. No problem to lock up the wheels immediately with the mechanical ones already...

Best memory of my beloved Mini was stopping for ice cream and whilst queueing my 2 dogs jumped in the front knocking the handbrake off, cue me chasing 2 hairy mutts driving a Mini down Lynmouth sea front.
Came to an end understeering in a summer rain storm, embedded itself into a large, prefabricated concrete flower pot outside the local solicitors one night!
