I have A/C, and in my opinion, the game falls short on the drift physics compared to this. Even at version 1.1 the drift side of the game was not its strong point. Pcars has better physics for drifting. I would go as far to say LFS with its fantasy cars does a better job at drift physics, even though these games don't have drift modes, you can certainly drift in them.

But the game that does the absolute best job at drifting is R3E. Even with out the hb.

I am comparing these sims to any one of my previous cars or current ones. My ugly home made rig is measured to closely match the position of every thing in my BMW. As crazy as it sounds these games help enable me to learn techniques i can do in real life.

Its a lot cheaper than tires and broken parts.
I am not rich, these drift events are usually $255, only happens a few times a year, are not close, and require a lot of paper work.
The Daytona track is not open to the public unless you have a Harley.
The last small track (Home Stead, Fl ) I went to: 2 hour drive there. Paid $50.
Sat in a line for well over an hour, by the time it was my turn, I was already over heating from idling for over an hour. I was trying to stay cool, but every time I shut the car off we inched forward. It was worse than sitting in traffic. The area was the size of a round about. I was only allowed one pass, and to the back of the line. I did not get to go again.

I also did the rally. I had plenty of time to practice. I won with ease, but I did a lot of damage to the suspension, and underbody. It was free, and all I got was a trophy. It was cool, but cost me my car. Thats now a parts car.

A buddy took his 5.0 Mustang out to a track day at the now extinct Westwood in Vancouver...had a great time, but torched his brakes...$1000 day. Not as bad as the guy who wrapped his Celica around a tree and broke it in half that day. Drifting looks like a good way to go through a lot of cash in a hurry, too!

OP: have you tried the rallycross cars in DiRT Rally? Either that or the tarmac stages? A lot of (necessary) sideways action there.

Got to admit I voted no (but I don't hate you DriftMachine) as I can drift very well, when I don't want to but put me in a drift car and you will never see straighter driving in your life, find it a very difficult discipline to emulate in the virtual world, for starters you look out the side window not windscreen so if we're going to have auto head movement not only will I be sick but I will also crash just as I do if I take a quick peek to left/right at high speeds, this is due to it being an unnatural movement, now if you're wanting head tracking and Oculus Rift support then maybe, just maybe I would start to get a bit more interested.
I fancy luring Devs away from what has already been promised will wrangle the majority on this forum as we are very good at talking ourselves into a frenzy over any hint (official or unofficial) of new content but you will not find a nicer bunch of like minded people (drifting aside ;)) who take unwarranted negative input very much to heart (myself included). There is some serious love for this Sim, comes with a great and ever growing community, very approachable Devs and IMO a great future ahead. So pop the Handbrake on a shelf (we've all got kit getting dusty we're itching to use) head on into a server and lets RACE! :)

We definitely need competitors for the Audi 90 GTO IMSA.

Not drifting. Or worse, Ken Block with his gymkhana.

*Shudders with bad memories from Dirt 3 and also what's in the new NFS.

its technically just a power slide cause its 4wd and you just bring it back by nailing the throttle...;) but that aside I agree sliding that thing around is a lot of fun.:)

But does it work analog (like a pedal) or digital (like a button)? A lot of games will treat an analog handbrake like a digital one. Assetto Corsa actually supports both as it has two places to map a handbrake.
I would test it myself but I'm still working on my rig. :(

I don't care for drifting at all, but I'd love to see some of these cars as Gr.A touring classics. Especially the AE86, Supra and RX-7. :)
