Thank you very much. The answer is to be very generous with cooling. I've put a lot of thought into making sure the radiators and oil coolers are fed enough air. Also it's important to not try to go crazy with the boost pressure. I've set a limit of 1bar maximum, which will give around 450-500hp when tuned properly. It'd be very possible to go up to 600hp with more boost, but the engine won't last very long!
I'm seeing this thread for the first time. Can't remember hitting the Love it icon so many times at one day. Just wow! I'm amazed and envious at the same time.
Over the weekend I put the finishing touches to the headlight units. First job was to reinforce the underside, because the lamps could wobble and shake. Added two layers of 200gm plain weave because it's slightly stiffer for flat surfaces. I cut out access holes, made some covers which bolt on from behind, and fitted the rivnuts to hold them in place: The indicator bulbs fit in the lug you can see sticking up here: The problem is though once the lens cover is attached, it could make it very hard to remove them. So, I cut the slot you can see above meaning that the bulbs can be unbolted, slid forward and then the wire can pass through the small gap. So that they can be tightened up with just one spanner from behind, filed a flat.. Which sits against the world's smallest peice of carbon so the lamp can't rotate: All done except for small rubber seals and the lens cover needs to be bonded on: Not bad starting from a rough sketch and a hacked up pop-up light
Attached the mesh for the radiator and oil cooler intakes: Figured out a final solution to the oil cooler ducting: Really looking the part now. One of the next things is to attach the headlight covers.
Very impressive...and a nice big garage . I always wonder if you will dare to drive this car in race conditions after all this hard work. Amazing and thanks for the insights of the ongoing development!
