To finish of the day I did a 30 minute WTCC race on Nurburgring short tonight. I think tire degradation was set at 2x or 4x but not sure. I started the race fine, was in first place for a while and then in second. Then I spun and was in fifth. I fought back to third place but with 10 minutes to go my tyres were at 90% (which in the BMW makes you slide a lot). I didn't want to spin again or crash out all together so I gambled to pit for fresh rubber and try to gain speed and fight back again to third. After my pitstop I rejoined on track in seventh. I was gaining about 3 seconds on the field a lap and I overtook two guys. One other guy spun so that got me in fourth with one lap to go! When I started the final lap I was about 3 seconds behind the guy in third but my car was working better. My tires were on 96% and his must have been on 85-90%. I was gaining on him and then this happened:
Well that was annoying... Front tires were at 80-85%, rear above 90%, which resulted in understeer of doom. I thought I had third place in the bag, but I went into the sand on the second last lap. However, how #1 got 95% with no pitstop and FWD is a mystery to me still.
Really fun race, lots of contact and dicing for position. Props to @Jay Ekkel for letting us race for the lead and have a blast! I added some "commentary" in the form of speech bubbles
Newly released WTCC-2014 is already in my R3E portfolio, but waiting to get on track, perhaps more on the Shanghai Circuit (this time in WTCC layout), aboard the Team Roal's Chevrolet Cruze No. 4, here comes a test lap performed on the BMW320TC (WTCC-2013) of Tom Coronel the great.
One of the best races Ive had in a while Heres the lap where I was holding on for dear life Some good racing yesterday and tough competition.
