Pit to car radio app available - work in progress

ok, 1.9.2 is now up, same link on the first post in the thread

 

I'm not going to make a new version for this, but the next version will have a tweak to the spotter_gap_for_clear property - I think this should be a bit bigger (maybe 1 or 1.1), and I'm tempted to increase the spotter_car_length property by 0.1 or 0.2. These should make the spotter call "hold your line" a bit sooner (in this version he's a little late sometimes) and should stop him calling "clear" so eagerly.

Like I said, not worth a new version but you might get better results with some tweaking of these settings

Great stuff. The car length in the spotter options isn't quite right - you're getting "hold your line" messages when you're behind rather than along side. Nothing a bit of tweaking won't fix. But it's sounding really good, I'm really pleased with it

BTW, tested the 1.9.2 yesterday, don't know what you did but the app now works perfectly for me! I still have some minor performance drops with the spotter, but it's really a question of 1 or 2 fps, as opposed to the 15 to 20 that I had with 1.9. I really can't thank you enough, great work @mr_belowski

 

Righty, time for a new version. This adds some 'push now' messages that trigger if your race position (and number of cars in the race) are unchanged for a bit - it works out whether you're likely to make a pass or be passed driving at your best pace, and offers warnings or encouragement.

It also fixes the *completely* broken mandatory pitstop messages and includes some spotter tweaks

mr_belowski, I must demand you take a break for a day or two You're working yourself to death on this. I've had such a blast with the spotter mode and this is every bit as well done as the famed Jimmy Johnson spotter audio for NR2003. Very well done. This adds so much to the game thanks again so much

 

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that....

I can't leave the spotter in it's current state and bugger off on holiday so I've externalised a load of the spotter's configuration and I've also fixed some nasty little date bugs in the code which checks for consistent clear / overlaps before triggering a message. I've had a quick test race and it seems a lot better. It's also possible to tweak it yourselves if you want.

spotter_car_length, spotter_gap_for_clear, spotter_clear_delay and spotter_overlap_delay will have the most effect. The first 2 are in metres, the second in milliseconds.

There are no other changes in this version and I really have finished and will do no more in it for at least a week.

just a small thing can we have sweary messages set to off by defualt so i can recommend the app to people easly without thinking about the person or any possible spectators. i know how to turn it off but the settings file is fairly clutterd.

 

I think you deserve a round of applause and a virtual pint to go with that.

 

I've just re-uploaded version 1.9.4 with the use_sweary_messages option set to 'off' by default. To re-enable it rummage through CrewChief.exe.config and find the use_sweary_messages and change the "False" underneath to "True"
