Discounts for buying content directly vs Steam wallet?

If I am in game and try to buy content I get a Steam over lay. I am aware that buying content this way allows Steam a 20% commission plus 3.5% for paypal on all sales.

If I were to buy from the web store I am assuming the only fee the publisher loses on is the 3.5% paypal fee. I was wondering if there would be any perks for buying directly from the site verses the Steam overlay.

Even a 10% discount would be enough incentive for me to make the effort.

I personally feel 20% is too much for Steam to take from any developer. Since buying would benefit the developer, I would expect a little incentive for the inconvenience of doing so via the website vs Steam.

it depends on where you get your vRP's mostly. If you buy vRP's over steam you/we pay a steam fee. You can also buy vRP from RaceRoom directly here, which also gives you a nice bulk discount.

You need to create a new account there I think, and you receive your vRP in form of a voucher, a redeem code you then enter in R3E.

 

Yepp - it's a bit wiered but that are two different accounts... One for the game and another for the raceroom-store. With the game-account you can buy the game-content with the raceroom-store-account you can buy hardware, experiences and the vRP-redeem-codes.

You will recieve the redeem-codes via email. If you don't find that mail check your junk-mail-folder befor contacting the support. I've found my mail there...

 

Only way to do it, bulk buy, get the item you wanted, leaves vRP in bank for the sales, win, win, win!

 

Ok I got 10,000 vrps. Now I will carefully use them during sales. Sorry devs, but I am not filthy rich. I got about 50% or so of your content before today.

Look at it on the bright side. Steam just lost 20% of that transaction. FYI I hate Steam because of their lack of an appeals process for banns. So any pennies I can keep them from getting the better.

Click add to cart. There should be a pop up on the right. Click check out.
Next page, on the left select. "Check out as guest" then click continue.
Next page, Fill out the info. Make sure your email is correct. Auto fill could easily select the wrong one..
Then it will direct you to PayPal. Once you have paid you will get a email with a code for the vrps.

The email will have a easy link to go straight to the site to redeem code. Or you can copy the code, and open the game and redeem it that way. In the game go to the store, top bar, next to the VRP there is a drop down for redeem.

Back here again to buy more vrp this is the easiest way for me to find the buy in spot outside of steam. Any way to stick it to steam the better. Steam the comcast of gaming.

They are far from finished.

 

I am sure they will be around for a while, but it would be nice if they allow offline for the experience packs and such.

And yea, I am glad they fixed the HB and are still adding more stuff.

$64.99 is in dollars. You can get a lot more than $64.99 in content for that much vrp.

Buying direct form sector 3 cuts steam out of 20% commission. That's more money for the devs to work on this project. I know it ain't much, but I get to help my favorite DEV team, and screw Steam at the same time, so it s a win/win for me.

I was banned from all steam discussion for saying pirate. There are several things in steam I took part in helping create so the ban really affected me. Steam no longer has my loyalty. There are things I cant address due to the ban.
