Hello! Just found out this video in a youtube channel I usually follow. It is a binaural recording of a WEC/ELMS Dunlop test in Monza, and the sounds are incredible! Just listen it with headphones and you can feel yourself inside the circuit. I guess @Anthony Monteil is probably going to like this
Absolutely awesome! Why isn't every video recorded like that. I would love to hear VLN in this quality.
I hope that we will hear binaural/spacial audio one day in racing games like raceroom. I think it is somehow possible with unreal engine. With VR it is getting more and more important. 3D audio would bring sims to the next level for sure. What a quantum jump of immersion that would be the first patent for a dummy head is from 1927, damn, that was 90 years in the past.
You can here a really loud backfire on the middle of the bridge I'm hoping he goes there again for the WEC Prologue this weekend!
I wish the LMP1 cars in Raceroom would sound like the cars in the video. Would be cool if Raceroom would get an update of those cars. Currently I don't know in what direction Raceroom will go
Maybe that's a subject for another thread... I like the sound of the current P1 and P2 cars, the fictitious cars sounds' are based on real cars afaik. But yes, I'd also like more modern prototypes (LMP1 & LMP2) in Raceroom, but I guess it's not a priority right now.
Really nice video. What really amazes me about these binaural recordings, is how well the dynamic range is preserved. You can feel the difference in volume when the engines are revving up compared to the off throttle, and really feel those backfires
Ok, found another one (binaural audio) I am just looking into NASCAR, as a European I don't know much about it. But with this video one can get glimpse of what it feels standing next to a track when 40 V8 machines are flying by, thunder storm. Pure immersion
