Resolved Download issue through Steam

Hi all,

I'm trying to download this through Steam and my antivirus (avira) has found a file called tr/patched.ren.gen2 within the rrre.exe

I have moved it to quarantine and started again but the same thing has happened... I get a disk write error.

I have submitted a thread on the steam support pages but wanted to ask here too...

it's probably a false-positive. The heuristics in virus scanners often encounter sequences of bytes that they think come from malicious software but are actually harmless chunks of regular applications.

There's usually a submission process where you can submit a file to your AV vendor for analysis and if (when...) they confirm it's OK they update their product so it no longer triggers for this file

 

Thanks for the reply... this is what I was thinking... I will try and submit the file and see what they come back with if they do... is there any way to download the game still whilst having this problem?

 

i guess you'll have to work out how to disable 'heuristic scanning' or whatever your AV calls it

Just to let you know... I sent the file to Avira and they have indeed said it was a false positive...

happened here too. After rebooting PC, downloading update again and then cheking files with steam (steam downloaded one file again then) it worked again
