Hi folks, Me and the missus have got two weeks off starting on 5th September and I was thinking about taking her to some kind of racing event but to be honest I aint got a clue whats crackin off. So I'm thinking you guys could help me out ( yeah i know I'm a lazy git). I Live slap bang in the middle of England about 10 miles from Donington but I'm open to any suggestions. Many thanks in advance!
5th & 6th September British Touring Car Championship Rockingham Speedway, Northants. 12th & 13th September British GT Championship (final round, 2hr race) Donington Park.
AMOC 80th Anniversary Celebration Brands Hatch (Indy/GP) Saturday 05 - Sunday 06 September 2015 Supercar Challenge Brands Hatch (GP) Saturday 12 - Sunday 13 September 2015 http://www.brandshatch.co.uk/calendar.aspx Supercar Challenge sounds very interesting.
I'm near Donington too (smelly Loughborough), dull part of the world . No idea what's coming up locally but if its at Donny at least you got the museum to occupy yourselves if its wet or boring. Brands is a huge trek, would be a loooong day. Might be some historic stuff coming up at Mallory but it'll be very low-key and nerdy. Good luck entertaining your missus with motorsport - mine just doesn't get it.
Yeah I know, although it is "only" 150 miles. I just love how distances change their relative meaning depending on where one lives. For Russians or Americans that's like a short commute, for me that would be an ok little trip. But if they're planning on a stay maybe, I think those events would offer more for the casual viewer, open paddock, classic cars, multiclass racing....
True, and it's not the typical empty wind swept air field that most UK tracks are. Still, its a miserable 3 or 4 hour trek on a good day. It's the journey back that'll be the problem, 4 hours of "I can't believe you dragged me along to this tedious event"
Eh, forgot about that tedious speed limit and the crammed motorways you guys have over there. Without a jam I can do such a distance in 2 hrs here, less on a really good day, which is okay, even if being nagged at. ^^ I noticed that the nagging is in an inversely proportional linear function with the speed you're moving at. More throttle = less moaning.
Wow I didn't expect so many replies so quick! Seems like there's a lot going on so some decisions will need to be made Luckily the other (better) half likes pretty much anything that gets me out of the house so I dont think there will be too much nagging Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated and please keep em coming!
