As a graphics whore, i find that the textures and look of the gloves/hands in R3R is lacking in comparison to its competition. in Raceroom it looks a bit like we are driving with washing gloves on to do the dishes: Compare this with for example PCARS: I know a lot of people drive without the hand or wheel animations, but for those of us that do it's a bit of a bummer as the cockpits themselves are nicely detailed.
hm, seems to be a car-dependent thing... on that pic in the Nissan it really doesn't look good.. with other cars, it looks ok IMO. Another thing I've notice with those pictures... does the Driver has legs? That might be something important for a VR-Future...
While I agree that there are some cars that could use some nicer gloves I also think in most cars they look alright. But what's with the pCars pic, this guy wearing boxing gloves? Those look darn huge compared to the size of the arms... Or is the driver the guy who invented the original xbox controller? ^^
Perfectly agree. While older cars have decent gloves textures, the recently released one usually have the worst gloves. New and improved animations would be nice too
Historic cars (Touring Classics, Group 5, etc.) are using different textures for a reason. Back in those days, drivers didnt have fancy gloves like today. But you will be glad to hear, that we are working on a completely new driver model/animation
Yes, they were not "fancy" but they were very detailed, which is something lacking now. Need examples? Bellof's and Patrese's. This is for Group 5. Also other series in RRE have drivers with not very detailed gloves right now. Fantastic news for the update though
The textures of my wheel and my bicycle gloves right in front of me are in perfect HD - the virtual guy in my cockpit only goes on my nerves, so I always throw him and his wheel out of my car, idiot, damned
Throw in there also that free flight cam that can be moved and lock (especially onboard cameracar) for replay and that would be a great combo!
Just wanted to add (remembering PS 1 times) that if you use a gamepad it adds a more realistic feeling using the virtual pilot plus wheel - but using a wheel yourself it's a kinda oxymoron I find...
Great ! Any news about this new driver animation? Do you have an estimated release date? Thanks a lot.
