It's a compromise, really. We already increased the distant engine volume in the last update but increasing it more doesn't sound nice at all. This is a case where matching the reality provides an unpleasant result, just because it's a game and you can't overlay as many sounds as in reality, let alone adding up their volumes and keeping them constant in long distances. Besides, the distant cars are still quite loud, you can hear them clearly in the background from all over the tracks, like it is in real life. I'm not even sure another game features this but I personally pushed to make it possible in R3E, which doesn't mean that we won't try to improve it in the future. You can test it with one car only on track, watch a replay and select the free cam. You will hear that the distant engine volume is pretty loud and I'm not sure increasing it would be more realistic. Watching a replay should stay a pleasant experience so we need to keep things as clean as possible while providing the audio rage of those monsters. That's not always so easy
@Anthony Monteil as you say you can still hear the cars clearly from all over the circuit, if volume is the only thing wrong with the audio on R3E (I have no issue with it at all), then I'd say you've done a pretty amazing job and deserve all the plaudits that come with that.
@Anthony Monteil Of course it's a matter of compromise And I really think you do a fantastic job with the R3E sound's. My little grief I had about this video is maybe not about the loudness of the sound. My first thought was about the doppler effect, as if it was to condensed.. it's a little tiny thing making me feel this "not as good as I expect from R3E". I'm used to be on track side as an official marshal (was 3 times in Le Mans for the 24H), and R3E is the only game that remind me the true insanity of the noise of an actual car race. It really makes me shiver !
Yeah this i like most. You can still here cars from the other side of the circuit in R3E, like being on a real racetrack. You've done an amazing job here regarding sound realism. I also don't know any sim out there, which give a similar experience. Not even close. In most sims it's like the sound is cut after the car has reached a specific distance. You almost can't hear a car, which is about 300 meters away. Just quite unrealistic. R3E is big steps ahead regarding this.
The Roll-Out is actually running... some cars are already in the store but it would be better to be pationed
Wait with buying until the Release is officially confirmed... the update might be still in progress...
