Is it normal? Had it multiple times now that I had huge lags during qualifying and it always killed my laps because it happend in corners... only happens sometimes when someone joins the server.
It is worse on the Nordschliefe you can be right at the end of a flying lap and someone will join and it really spoils your lap there is usually not enough time to put in another lap when this happens.
normal and it's a real son of a b****. The bad part is, you see the guy's name up there, so i'll unreasonably start blaming that person, especially if they just left - knowing full well it's not his fault! It seems that during the pause the car just goes straight even if you are turning - but i'm not sure on this
It's been there since GTR in 2004. TBH I gave up on this and learned to live with it since about 10 years now.
What is odd though it does not do it with every person who joins some people join and there is no lag, i stopped doing qualis at the Nordschleife the first bend takes out half the grid anyway starting at the back can be beneficial
Typical gMotor "problem". Btw in rF you could set it in your PLR what should the game do when a player joins to the server - load it instantly, or load it later when you went back to the pits.
It's about loading a car model (skin also?) that is or not already loaded by the player in this session. The thing is that, the more different car /skin you allow on the server the more different car/skin players can choose and the more you're gonna have "logging lags" On the other end, if everyone use the same car /skin there will be no lags.
I agree - i'm guessing they are having to compromise somewhere between super long initial load times (they used to be even worse) and loading during race
I cant understand it too. In Race 07 (Simbin Product) u havent that problem. There u have the choice if u reload the players in Pit, or u reload the players if u drive off the track... why it is so difficult to impliment that?!?
In Race07 the "newly joined cars" were invisible, while you're currently ontrack, and only loaded by entering the pit menu. In rFactor a visible lowpoly yellow tempcar is loaded for players, which have recently joined the server, just to avoid these join lags. Like in Race07 the right carmodel incl. livery is only loaded in the pit menu. The same with rFactor2, but with an additional bindable key to load new cars, while you're on track. So you can optionally load new cars during your inlap or outlap, if you want to do that.
We have a potential fix for the join lag issue we are testing right now. If it all works out it will be included with a hotfix patch very soon.
