I'm sure this is a very basic question, but what exactly does motion blur do and what are its pros and cons? I'm fine-tuning a new system, dual 970gtx sli. I am finding that turning on motion blur definitely causes a frames hit and I'm getting decent (but not great) fps of 50-65 fps with most details turned on. I get a definite increase in frames (+10 or so) with motion blur turned off, but I detect slight stuttering (at higher frame rates) without motion blur.

My motion blur, shadows and bloom are all off and the game looks great. I do have v-sync on and also razer cortex gamebooster to help with freeing up memory and at the same time shows me fps in the corner.
