I'm new to Steam and RaceRoom. I installed both a little over a month ago on a test system, and it runs fine there. I've now tried to get it running on another system and it isn't cooperating.

When I start the game from within the Steam UI/App Library, I see the game status change to 'Running' and then to 'Syncing' and then the status disappears entirely and nothing happens on my system. No RaceRoom logo or anything to indicate progress.

I've reinstalled Steam and uninstalled RaceRoom numerous times. I've disabled my AV program during installs and while running. I've started Steam as Admin. I've rebooted numerous times. I've checked logs under the Steam log folder and other than what posted below I've found nothing else to troubleshoot.

I've run integrity check numerous times while troubleshooting and afterwards it sometimes download something, other times it said everything is fine. It currently says everything is fine.

I've attached a zip of all the logs. But here are snippets from one recent attempt to start the game:
    content_log.txt:

    stats_log.txt:

All the other log files were older time stamps or entries from prior to the above attempt to start the game.

    I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, i5-3570k, Radeon 7850, and 16 GB ram.
Steam is installed on C: but the Steamlibrary is on a Z:\ drive with plenty of space.

    Help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

Have you tried disabling steamcloud for Raceroom? (Right click in steam, update tab, tick at the bottom)
Are you using family share by any chance? Cause Raceroom doesn't work with that.

I just disabled that - no luck.
Is the a way to run this from file explorer? I found an RRRE.exe but double-clicking it or right-click and running as Admin produce a message about a missing DLL. I'm guessing running it through Steam sets additional parameters and PATH...

I'm not sure what family share is.I still have RaceRoom installed on the first system (still works) and I'm using the same Steam account on both computers. I assume that is allowed.

    Thanks

Family share lets you share games between several accounts, which can't be done with RR cause you need an additional account for the game.

But it should start normally when you run the exe file manually, I did just that and it worked.
That thing about a missing dll is suspicious. Do you use the same kind of setup (steam on C:, library on a different drive) on your first PC too?

Do you have a raceroom folder in your documents folder? (C:\Users\abc\Documents\My Games\SimBin\RaceRoom Racing Experience)
If so, have you tried deleting it?

Thanks for confirming this should start by running the exe manually! I read your comment before trying this on the first system I installed this on, which was a single drive system with Steam and RR installed on the same drive. This second system has a smaller SSD for OS and a larger disk drive for mass storage.

    Problem Solved!
The missing file was 'xinput1_3.dll' and I found a copy of it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin folder. I added this to the PATH environment variable, restarted Steam to pick up the change and now RaceRoom starts as it should! Yay! RaceRoom seems to have found my purchased content as well - I'm happy about that.

I dunno if other users would encounter the same problem if RaceRoom is on a different drive. This was the only deviation from the install on the first system. It would be great if there was additional logging available to indicate problems like this - running everything through the Steam interface simply masked the issue and prevented the diagnosis you would typically follow.

    Thanks again!
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

great that you solved the issue and thanks for sharing your findings. I will certainly add it to my personal "known errors and fixes list" and notify the devs of your sollution so if it crops up again we'll know where to point people to.

    Thanks again and enjoy.

Anyone can shed a light, how can I "add this to the PATH environment variable" ? Thanks!
