Hey, so yeah, I'm just really giving Raceroom a go. Another sim title! I play iRacing, Assetto Corsa and project cars on PC and Xbox. I'd be grateful for some help on getting up to speed with things. I have bought the starter and pro packs to get me going. So, setting up FFB, recommend settings in game, useful websites, spotter apps, dash apps. Best / most popular leagues or series to run etc. All the usual things that turn a game into a sim! I'm guessing I am not the only noob to arrive after the patch, so this might also help a few others from asking the same things
Useful apps and such can be found in the community workshop: https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?forums/community-workshop.73/ As you got AC and Pcars I assume you know Crew Chief already? (Originally created for Raceroom ^^) That's half of what you need right there. As for content and leagues. Well, for people to race against, look here: https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?forums/leagues-communities.70/ I can't recommend one over the other since I exclusively race over at RaceDepartment (where we'd be happy to have you btw), but generally the level of driving in private organizations is of a much higher standard than on open servers. Not that you can't get good driving on the open servers, it's just that..... Well, they're open servers. They tend to be like iRacing Week13. Content-wise, you can't go wrong with GT3s, as is seemingly the rule no matter what the sim. Touring-cars have a decent following too, even if they're not my cup of brownish liquid. Personally, I favor the NSUs. Yes, they're ugly. Yes, they have about 2 bhp and the torque to match. But goddamn, they're fun to race. And of course, if you're looking for something that'll really get your blood boiling, look no further than the Group 5 monsters. Insanely fast and insanely fun once you get over the "Ohmygodthisthingisgoingtokillme!" moment. Btw, you wouldn't happen to be xMattyG onYT, would you?
Welcome to Raceroom! The racing sim with (imo) the best sound you'll hear, only to be surpassed by actually driving a real racecar!
As an "external" dash app I recommend you DashMeterPro from Sensadigit... and as Christian wrote, never drive without Crew Chief! (PS: It would be helpful if you could add your system specs and used hardware in your signature. Makes it easier to help you with specific questions or problems.)
I should ignore the above post, wrong time of month me thinks, yes there's been a major glitch post patch but new frontiers, new problems! You have all the info you require to enjoy the most immersive racing sim on the market (imho) welcome and enjoy!
I'll add to this and say that HUD Dash is worth checking out. The free version allows for some customization, but when you purchase the raceroom version it adds allot of features! Very cool stuff. And definately use Crew Chief when racing, helps with spotting those pesky little overtakers
I've not played a game yet, in almost 35 years of PC gaming that didn't fall flat on its face after a patch ! It's all part of the "fun"
Thanks for the replies all. I didn't know Crew Chief was original developed RaceRoom, but have it for project cars and it's excellent . It even works really well on the Xbox version also.
