Umm whats going on with this track, has someone stuck a few batteries in it, the scenery seems to be vibrating whilst driving around it, it's a very similar effect when watching the replays and the car shadows are vibrating..it's very distracting sometimes, i checked out a few different Nvidia drivers past and present and it's still there.

    Here's the problem in action:

YouTube recompression kinda killed it, so here's magnified screenshots from the original video of a somewhat better quality:

I was watching cars in the pits today, and noticed the cars continuously moving and twitching as well..

That happens on every track I think. At leas I've seen it on several. As well as on the grid before the race.

This scenery shimmer is something I've only noticed on Nordschleife so far.

    Hello!!

Can you who have this flicker/shimmer attach your graphics_options.xml files?
Look for it here: Documents\My Games\SimBin\RaceRoom Racing Experience\UserData

I'm not at my PC and won't be for a few more days, but I run everything on max I believe, apart from shadows which I have at medium (and possibly shadow split disabled?). Oh and motion blur at fast/ultra.

Might still be good to get that file anyway, could be some value is screwed up in there or sth cause I for one can't replicate this issue.

I will post it, but, like I said, won't be for a few days.

I've done some experiments. It's all about motion blur. If I used the Fast setting and set the quality to Ultra everything was vibrating. Like crazy. Walls. Trees. Our poor disfigured "people" on track.

So a few things will make this better. Turning Vertical Sync on helped a bit. FoV at 1.0 also made this less prominent. And, as I mentioned, this is related to motion blur. Turning it off removes the issue entirely.

Likewise, setting it to Complex instead of Fast also made this pretty much disappear.

These are workarounds for now. Hopefully we can figure out why this happens and fix it so using Fast motion blur is an option.

Well, turning the Vsync on is not really an option and setting FOV at 1 is definitely not an option, so I guess complex motion blur it will be for me.
    Thanks.

Still it's interesting that only Nordschleife has this problem.

Couldn't think of anything worst than turning on vsync, hopefully a fix will happen, and as Case says it's only 1 track so shouldn't be to hard for them to fix, I can use complex as well, but we shouldn't have to sacrifice fps for a cure.

Well. It does also happen on Nürburgring. I suspect this has to do with the center position of the track. The further away from that position, the more issues will occur. That's why stuff tends to flicker more on Nords and Nürbs too, big track means going far from the center. We might be able to find some easy workaround for this shimmer, but the core issue isn't all that easy to deal with.

It's interesting you call it a flicker, if it is a flicker it's extremely different to other flicker, I mean this actually looks like the tree line is vibrating, and it's very similar to the vibrating shadows on the cars in replay.

Not speaking about the trees. Ads and other places where two surfaces are close together will flicker. More so the further away from the center point. It's called z-fighting or stitching if you want to waste a couple of minutes on wikipedia. :D

You could turn motion blur off. I can barely tell when it's on anyway.

Really, even on my single monitor I really notice it, even more so on the likes of the Ring due to the fencing.

Well, motion blur effect is more noticable at speeds above 100 kph, velocities Kitsune barely ever touches. :p
