Is there a view where we can cycle through sitting in other player's cars and watch them drive around? If so I have not found it. What is this action called in the control mapping screen? Any help appreciated, and sorry for the simpleton question.
In mp there's the race monitor. In the lower control bar use the arrow buttons on the left to cycle through the cars. If you're on track you can switch to other cars with the + and - keys on the numpad (at least that's how it worked, not sure if it still does).

Also in multiplayer (and maybe single player) "Opponent Cockpits" needs to be enabled in the Options -> Video Settings -> Custom Settings option all the way at the bottom. I do not remember if it is turned on by default, but it's worth mentioning just in case
