After doing Pikes Peak hillclimb in Dirt Rally I've been watching some hillclimbing videos. I found one which is particularity insane. Frankly, they all are. But this one... The run starts at 1:35: (The video is not sped up btw, as you can see from the time record.) It dawned on me that hillclimbing might be THE most dangerous motorsport: It's usually a walled, narrow road the LEAST suited for high speed driving. It's very short so every millisecond counts, so they push the car to the limit. Practice runs are limited, definitely compared to track racing. And it's an open car...
You may want to look at the Isle of Man TT before coming to that conclusion. Not that hillclimb isn't up there, but doing 200mph through village streets on two wheels, moves the territory from just slightly insane to downright certifiable.
Excitement is proportional to danger. F1 is the safest form of motorsport..... Sim Racing is plenty dangerous if you over-run your allotted time......You married men understand me, right? Edit : I just re-watched the hill climb video above, but without sound - it looks pretty tame! And also made me remember to qualify my F1 statement. Formula E is not Motorsport.
No, your'e right, I didn't think of bikes. But then again bikes are crazy even on the road IMO . I live in a certain country where bikers drive like they're in the Isle of Man TT all the time, so maybe I've learned to block them from my mind
