Hi all. When I map the reverse gear to a button (on controller or keyboard) it wont work during game. When I map the neutral gear to these buttons it works fine in game. Tested with GT3 and DTM, why does neutral gear work but reverse gear not? Also activated H-pattern shifting but no susccess. Thx and regards.
Hi Tobias, both of the cars you mentioned have sequential gearboxes, where you shift up or down one gear at a time using the shift paddles. So there is no possibility to skip gears or even to shift directly into reverse gear, except from neutral. This is normal behaviour and also intended. In addition, most of these more modern vehicles have a device that prevents the driver from shifting down too early in order to avoid over-revving the engine and confirms this with a beep. Assigning buttons to idividual gears (except neutral) only really makes sense if you actually use an H-shifter. In order to engage reverse gear here, you will have to change to neutral first anyway.
