Very low performance on salzburg ring.frames drop to 36 frames on tree passages and starting straight.other passages run up to 150fps.
shadows are off and track detail on medium.otherwise not playable.
    Every other game runs perfect.(assetto,bf4)
    What goes on sector3?
I have read there are some guys also having problems since last update.
Or is the graphic engine used from race07 just become too old to run on todays high end pc's
    Problem since new pc.

Runs as smooth as silk for me with a GTX 780 + i5 2500k. My settings are maxed apart from things like shadow split (off), blur (off), reflections (low) and with 8xMSAA.

On one lap(salzburg ring) frames go from 50fps "straight line" up to 120fps "first corner then drop to 50fps "forest passage" and so on.
Fps are not at all constant.
Shadows are already off.track details on low.
All other graphic settings don't bring a big performance boost when setting them to low.
Just shadows off and track details on low make the game playable.

See that's a bit of a problem, I personally have never had issue recently (*knock on wood) everything seems to be ok. It's just odd that some people combination of hardware doesn't seem to work for them. @James Cook and I are some of the lucky one but I think S3 needs to starts looking into why some combo of hardware are having issue versus others.
I do have a second pc with a quad core and a gtx570. Maybe i should get everything installed on the and do some testing just to try and help out.

It's very strange. I ran a full grid WTCC race earlier and the framerate didn't drop below 60 even once, but when someone with a better GPU-CPU combo is getting terrible performance on lower settings then something is clearly wrong.

Exactly I see people with gtx980 reporting low frame rate and to me that's impossible since a gtx700 give me very high frame rates even on triple screen.

Okay, with everything set to max except Motion Blur; set to fast and high, I believe, frames get as low as 53. The game is still very smooth. The highest was around 79. Hope I added something to the discussion. Oh, I used Fraps.
