I've been away from the pc for a month but have found on my return that R3E doesn't work in VR anymore. I have a Reverb G2 so use WMR for steam and steamvr, all the other VR games work as per usual apart from R3E which starts to load and before I get to the first screen I get a SteamVR crash saying it encountered a critical error.

If you're on the latest WMR Beta try rolling back; latest beta borks R3R for me.

    No worries man,

In the Steam Library right click on Windows Mixed Reality; this will bring up a 'General' window

Click on 'BETAS' - this will (hopefully) be set as 'beta - public beta'

    click the drop-down arrow and select 'lkg_release - lkg_release'

Close the window, Steam should now indicate you need to update Windows Mixed Reality

Update and then try to load R3R.

Thanks, I had a lightbulb moment before I read this as I remembered there's WMR portal that opens before SteamVR and WMR for Steam!

The same thing just happened to me, so thanks for posting your workround.
But what happens when the WMR beta becomes the public release? Do we then lose RRE in VR forever?
Is there anyone we can report this to?

Aye I've the same concern, once 'Beta' goes into Release does the issue carry over?

There's a new Beta out, which I'm not able to test just yet; hopefully the new Beta works.

For me it works best to have nothing VR related open except the Windows Mixed Reality Portal that starts as soon as the HMD gets recognized. Starting Steam in VR mode will trigger all other needed components to start. That works for me most of the time. Same procedure with IL-2 and DCS (both Non-Steam editions)
