You kept that one quiet! No wonder you looked so composed last night (nothing to do with the squidgy bit behind the wheel obviously ). Ironically, I started working on a guide this morning...
I must admit on most cars I've tended to just soften off the rear a little, send both toes in a positive direction gradually, add a little rear aero and change the steering to 900/25, sometimes as low as 20 for the 12c (madness) I've spent very little time setting up in Raceroom compared to other Sims. Anyway I've attached 2 docs, that I put together sometime ago, whilst trying get to grips with the very basics (still trying) but hopefully there's a couple of nuggets in there to help a few guys out. One document has some notes and one is a quick reference without notes. I am certainly not a know it all and will expect some negatives, I know setting up a race car needs more than 2 pages, but I like things basic and this is very very basic and mean't as a quick reference not a detailed guide and a fix for less skilled driving. You can cure a lot of a cars short comings with technique...which is another massive area that I need help with...Can someone do a guide for that! Anyway, here goes..
Just made a quick update to the camber notes...nowt to worry about, just the wording....now I've done this, I'll start getting all anal about it.
I run the full 5.5 rear on the wtcc fr cars...seems to be fine... I think the values available to us are realistic.
also when balancing breaks elevation in the track can make a big differnce to which wheel locks up. when going up the mountain at bathurst you can run a very rearward break balance but when you try to come down again you wont get the car stopped so its important to adjust for the most important breaking zones on the track.
Nice One @shardshunt. I have my brake balance assigned to buttons on my wheel. I can change it as I go. Really useful
man i wish i had the concentration to adjust brake balance on the fly but in the v8sc they have a large dial that they setup so that one 180 turn is what they need to change at the top and on Conrod straight
Just a quick update. I have had very little time this with work this week to play with the setup guide you post. With that said after a few quick adjustments I was able to shave considerable time of my laps. I'm really looking froward digging in deeper and getting it setup for my driving style. As I want to run Get Real all the time. Thanks so much!
