I was thinking, we have so much new modern WTCC.. old WTCC is still terrible to drive imo. Have you ever think to bring us most legendary Super Touring series ? I would kill anyone for BTCC 1997, 1998 season ! No knowledge about that, but the licence is still hold by Codemasters or its free to pick?
yepp - the Super Touring-era was suggested several times. As you've mentioned BTCC esp. of that time could be a difficult one, but there were other series like the German STW could be an alternative... But yeah - that was definitely an exciting era in touring-car-racing.
Wasn't that many years ago ? First Toca Title was in 98 and guess Racedriver also got the license, but apart from that....? Would be nice to know what our beloved devs have to say about that @J-F Chardon ....uhm ?
Would be great, however our focus is on existing / future series at the minute. We'll see if we can put out more historic content. It's definitely not a lack of interest from our end for sure!
The rumor on the market was that Codemasters still had the BTCC license until at least the Grid Autosport time(2014).I haven't got any info if the deal is still on.
In Motorsport Magazines podcast Alan Gow mentioned Codies approached them back in the day and asked if they could do Toca. Octagon who took over in the early 2000's had an idea to make their own game that never came into fruition and since Gow came back into the leadership role no one has approached him to make another game. If this means the license is up for grabs of if Gow won't deal unless you're willing to make a new TOCA is another matter of course. Also Gow doesn't seem interested/aware of the Sim niche as he claimed modern racing games are most race cars driving around made up tracks.
