What budget aka the cheapest second hand single GPU and CPU can i use to run R3E on a triple screen setup (5760x1080, 60hz) on highest graphics settings?

    Thinking about single gtx970 and i5 3450/i7 2600.

    Thanks for help.

I was able to run triples with the GTX970 and i5 with good results. I upgraded to a GTX1070ti to achieve 144hz with Display Port.

But how much eye candy could your use to achieve 144 fps?

Heck I run an i7 8700k with a 1080ti on 3 x 1080p monitors and can only get a solid 80 fps provided I have car reflections on low and no motion blur

I want to upgrade my 3 monitors to 27" 144hz but I'm worried about how much eye candy I'll have to sacrifice to get a 144+ frame rate!

CPU matters a lot in R3E due to the nature of the game engine, so your best looking at what ever gives you the best single thread performance. Without knowing budget or anything else it kinda hard to make suggestions. Are you looking to build a whole new PC or just the motherboard, CPU and GPU? What else do you already own?

I only turn off motion blur other than that the highest settings. iRacing and rFactor2 regularly are at and above 120 often at 144. R3E seems to struggle to get that high but is a constant 90.
I don't overclock anything and pretty much set graphics at full with the exceptions I mentioned.

    Hi. Thanks for the answers.

I have a PC with i5 2500k on LGA1155 slot and GTX670, so need to upgrade CPU and GPU only on a 200$ budget (max!). Just looking for cheapest upgrade options on second hand market which gives me a lot options actually.

If CPU is that important then i guess i5 3450/i7 2600 isn't enough? Would the likes of i7 3770 or I5 3570 be enough?

Like I wrote earlier, i want to play R3E on highest settings with triple screens but I'm not looking for 144hz.

    Thanks for help.

200$ Won’t get you that far with improvements then, since for a new CPU you need a new motherboard on the intel platform, going from a 2500 to 2600 would be a 5% jump at most, and the i5 3450 would not be much better either. A newer GPU may help with that, but you will still be held back by the CPU. Since I do not know where you live but something like an RX580 might be a good pick. Otherwise you stuck with years old hardware that will not get much boost in performance.

2700k 80-100, 980ti 120-160! With a keen eye and a bit of patience youd probs get both these under your budget.
Hyperthreading on the i7, faster clock speeds, and overclockable if your board will support it, probs get half the money back after selling your 2500k.
Or throw as much as you can at a GPU, still a capable if old cpu you have there.

For reference I'm running an i5 3470 and its at around 90% when running racerrom on a single screen with a few things turned off or down. GPU is 1050ti 4GB. My GPU ususlly runs at about 50%. The CPU is bottlenecking the system and any of those CPUs you mention will likely do the same. Basically with your budget you can't do what you want. You would have to turn down some graphics settings and turn down number of AI cars etc.

Gumtree, Facebook marketplace, theres one right now for £120 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2594078614027913/
Have seen them go from £100+, like i said in my previuos post, a bit of patience and a little time looking you will find them in budget. Also he\she is in the US always cheaper there than here.
