Whats the difference between normal map and not normal map?

Now that a few tracks have normal maps, are there any comparison screens?

 

I'm very eager to see a comparison, but I'm guessing it's already too late, right? I don't think you can rollback updates in RaceRoom to gain the "before" images.

 

But if you have screenshots made before the change on any of the updated circuits (Daytona, Aragon, Nogaro, Watkins Glen) you can go and make new ones in the same places and compare it that way. I don't have any screenshots of these tracks so I can't do it myself, but some might have.

 

I believe you can see the effect on the updated tracks when you set the time to sunrise or sunset. You will see a lot more small shadows on the grass and on the gravel than on tracks that haven't been updated yet.
