This seems more like an announcement of an announcement, rather than "Hey, our new product is available now!"
Anyone know what price slot Fanatec intend to compete in with this wheel base? If it's direct competition with others, £700 - £1200 range, it will be a case of wait and see the feedback before I personally would buy into another new product (Fanatec would have to up their customer service game though) but around the £500 mark I may well be enticed, if only to pop that Maclaren rim on it, although I've read there have been issues with it for some (another instance of a new product having the odd teething problem), also read about a kickstart d/d base that's imminent and priced around that £500 price point, can't remember the name but I got the link off this forum somewhere. With the recent surge in popularity of Sim racing I fancy we may well be in for a spate of interesting new products over the coming years, I struggle to keep up with the news, where once upon a time and not that long ago, I could waste hours hunting for news that just wasn't there. Definitely in a Golden, if not Platinum era of Sim racing, damn! if there is one thing I hate and that's being trendy!
https://podium.fanatec.com/ ok they updated the link, there gonna be a livestream. But still no info. #cantwait
COOL! I hope many people make the jump to new DD wheels and sell me a nice used belt drive one cheap!!!!! (my G25 has seen better days)
I'm gonna sell my Fanatec Clubsport Wheelbase V2.5 , but for sure not cheap xD. The podium DD's won't come for free eather
And I'm gonna keep my V2, 'til the podium series lost its teething troubles and is supported by the sims.
1500 Euro for the DD2....... and the small one only on auction LOL .... I'm out....... Clubsport Wheelbase V2.5.... can you please forgive me? I never really wanted to sell you! I love you.... I will never let you go !!! I'm your true Homie <3 xD
Well, so much for fanatec coming in and taking over the market. Specs don't sound too bad, I'll wait for the reviews before deciding, it's not overwhelming me, I can wait.
Yeh I think the pricing is wrong, early batches I wouldn't touch, and to be honest I think the CSW 2.5 is good enough for awhile, I'd just like to see them reduce the rim prices.
Well that reveal was wholly underwhelming for the 2 yrs of hype they were trying to build. RIP Podium series, July 13th, 2018 - July 13th, 2018. Fanatec is just getting slaughtered on every forum I have seen discussing this lol
Well it’s certsinly a very silly price point. 1500 USD sans a wheel is just silly.. sounds like 2k for a working system sans pedals. What I will say is the wireless bit and the power unit bundled in it - makes for a slick package.
$1500 is in line with other direct drive systems, and the smaller one should be even cheaper once it is released plus they are compatible with Fanatic wheels, pedals, shifters, so if you are running a 2.5 it is a great upgrade out of my price range, but not overpriced, (and I am one CHEAP SOB)
I would pretty strongly disagree there, unless your definition of 'in line' means a 50% price difference These new Fanatec units are only the wheel base. No steering wheel or other accessories are included. You can get an Accuforce base for $900, while this Fanatec base is $1500 (excluding the lesser auction only base). Or you can get a more powerful OSW for cheaper... Or just get a similar power OSW motor for a lot cheaper.
