It was mainly a reply to the crazy comical attack I received, but thanks.
I think saying panels and wheels to come off easier and quicker for get real mode is fairly clear.

I think nrs2003 was the last propper sim racer to have realistic damage sensitivity?
Correct me if I'm wrong, I miss the "don't make a mistake" feel of it, but love everything else about this game.

Just for the record I judge a sim by starting off in the pits and having practice, qualify and race count down like a real race weekend but speeded up for relevant enjoyment, plus the car set ups etc, the kind of game a kid would see as boring, you get me?
We have to have some term to separate (for example) burnout from iracing!

My main issue with the damage model is the transmission breaks in a lap or 2.

If my old e30 broke that fast I would have never fell in love with BMW.

What you seem to of missed is the facts.
The game is still in Beta.
A lot will change.
A lot will not.
Lots of items will be added, improved damage being one of them, maybe.
However, you have to accept that it may not be to the level that you want, licence issues etc.
A new graphics engine.
Common sense tells you that more cars and tracks will be added in time.
Given time this game will be the best video game, that simulates racing a car.
Better that the other games.
Sector 3 seem to be creating a group of cars and tracks, to take the race to iracing, if you like.
I will say it again, one of the most important things to do when racing a car, real or pretend, is not to crash it..
Motorsport is a non-contact sport, real or pretend.

How do you manage to ruin the gearbox in two laps? H-shift and clutch?

 

I have no idea, I dont ruin a trans in real life driving the same way.

Maybe its a long standing bug. or maybe the model is too sensitive in that department. Funny thing is I can wreck all day and hardly any damage. The mech damage is extreme, but the body damage is not.
