When I play for about an hour or more, in the middle of a race my screen will freeze (keeping the last image), while I can still hear the car moving (crashing). The game doesn't crash, but the display keeps frozen in this last image. I can Alt-Tab or Ctrl-Alt-Del out of the game, and then I kill the game with the task manager It happened during online multiplayer sessions, single player race events, or even just practicing. Last time, this evening, it happened after a fresh start of the game, playing a single race event, after practice and qualification, near the end of the real race. (Frustrating, because it was the first time I was winning a race in a long time). (Nuerburgring GP, ADAC GT3, Aston Martin, Get Real) I think I have read several similar complaints in this forum under varying circumstances. ASUS laptop, Intel Quad Core i7 @ 2.40 GHz 6 GB RAM, Windows 10 x64 Home edition GeForce 840M, 2 GB DDR3, driver version 358.87 + integrated Intel HD 4600 video. External (TV) monitor on HDMI, internal monitor disabled. Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. I start the game with the -cefNoGPU parameter, otherwise it will not run with the NVidia card. https://forum.sector3studios.com/in...snt-work-with-geforce-840m-on-my-laptop.3381/
I found an event in the eventlog at the time of the freeze. There is a hardware error reported (the same) in two Information Log Events, 4 seconds apart. Report is attached. (both events refer to this same report). (and some minute later I see the 2 Information and 1 Error events accompanying the forced shutdown of RRE.exe). So if this really is a hardware error, RR will not be able to help me, but I am still curious about those other cases of other users that report these view-freeze/game still running events.
McLaren Don't know what made me say Aston Martin[*]. My only excuse is that I don't own either of them in real life. [*] in Race 07 I often drive the Aston Martin.
So I installed a monitor program (HWMonitor), and when the game crashed again, the maximum temperature of the cores was 94° C. Which is pretty high. So I guess my laptop overheats when playing for an extended period. I guess there is nothing I can do about it. The game runs on my old desktop, but only on the lowest graphical settings.
