I would tend to drive my car in cockpit view, it does not feel right any other way, but a friend of mine plays in external view, my questions is how many of you use cockpit view to outside view and if your in a proper race in a league or club is the cockpit a forced view?
If you are single screen I always suggest Dashcam for more realism, or Bonnetcam if you don't care about immersion/realistic experience but only want fast times. For triple screen I always suggest to use cockpit-camera; you've to adjust your screens properly according to this: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/fov-best-inmersion-in-our-cockpit.5962/ and http://www.projectimmersion.com/
Good point actually, I use dashcam in DiRT Rally, but never really thought about it for R3E (and I'm not the sort of person to care about times/speed) - will give it a try.
The camera that's in the cockpit but isn't the driver's perspective, he means dashcam or dashboard camera. I don't think it's in the R3E default cameras (insert button) but might be in the 'extras' (home button), haven't checked yet.
How do I try this out? dont see dashcam view in normal view, give me a screen shot or something so I can see..
Looks like this: (18 secs in) Try cycling through the cameras mapped by default to 'home' on the keyboard.
Always always always cockpit view. I've been experimenting last few days though and trying out the cockpit view 'in the middle of the passenger and driver' instead of from the driver's position and I find it quite interesting / helpful. I never play with wheel or arms showing in any sim...it looks bizarre to me to see my arms and then 2 more arms...makes me feel like on of these when driving
Yeah call me an elitist hippy c*8t but I prefer cockpitview with just the wheel any thing else is cheating IMO ;o)
Agree, but minus both arms and wheel. Like DoctoFrazierGrane mentioned, can't play with a wheel on display, while I'm holding one in my hands.
I use an adjusted cockpit cam. Mine is slightly lower and more pushed to the front, I have ingame hands and wheel off.
The dashcam view....looks like it also puts the camera in the passenger side of the car. Is this right or am I missing something? Seems like a good driving view, just 'wierd'. Although it is a bit of a nuisance that the windscreen graphics obscure things sometimes.
Yeah, everyone who uses cockpit cam, ends up having to adjust it to some extent. Never had it perfectly setup straight out of the box. So much depends upon your seating position, position of the steering wheel, size/position of screens and so on.
Mappable keys, I set them to the D-pad on the Logitech G27 shifter. They're named "Seat adjust something" where the something is the variable. Height + or - and distance + or -
