try and close every oculus application (oculus home....), don't start SteamVR.. close it if it's running. Then just start raceroom like you would start it without VR (but with -vr in the startup arguments). SteamVR will start automatically. It doesn't work when SteamVR is already running. At least I had this problem ^^
uhh then try different version if u didnt already (i had a problem with one version, had to downgrade)
See attached files. Start command: -vr 1.7 monitor PC - i7-8700K / 16GB G.Skill 3200Mhz / MSI NVIDIA 1080 GTX - X 8G / Intenso 250 GB SSD |Gigabyte Z370P-D3, Socket 1151 Interface - Wheel - Thrustmaster T-300 F1 / Pedals - Thrustmaster T3PA / Samsung C32F391 Monitor | Oculus CV1 Playing on a stable 45 fps via ASW with 19 opponents GT3 (ok, i deleted the old GT3, maybe this was the case why my system speeded up?) But i read here that the command "1.7" doesnt affect any more? Is it ture?
strange.. everything on max except shadows on my side.. no MSAA (someone told me MSAA no use in VR) but FXAA enabled. always above 45fps with 2.0 Supersampling and full grid.
Whats your specs? What is contact shadows BTW? I try to max out. My setting is like it is now. Will check this MSAA difference of turning it off...
Try rolling back to the 385.69 driver. I always update to the current Nvidia drivers, but sometimes it will mess with different VR games that were working fine before. I noticed RR looked blurry and had jutter with the recent game updates. So before messing with any VR or game settings, I'll always roll back to 385.69 first. It's kind of strange because AC and PC2 were fine with the latest Nvidia drivers, just RR seemed to be blurry. Also use DDU to clean out your old drivers for a fresh start.......Cheers.
Have finally got Oculus / Steam VR running in R3E. Procedure I'm following is simply: 1. Launch Steam VR (I have to do this first otherwise the game crashes every time (64bit)) 2. Launch R3E (64bit) with launch option -vr 3.0 However I'm coming across a few issues, which aren't in any way game breakers but more related to achieving a better user-experience and possibly higher quality visuals. Firstly when launching Steam VR, which is new to me, I'm presented with a screen in the HMD that shows Web, Store, Library etc. Unless I get rid of this before launching the game by clicking on the 'Go Home' button, this screen stays in place and sits over the top of game menus etc when I launch the game. Is it therefore possible to launch Steam VR in Home mode by default? Secondly, I've set up the Steam game launch option as -VR 3.0 and reduced video quality where necessary to medium / low. (1080i graphics) Performance and visuals are pretty good even with plenty of cars on track however the apexes and track limits are not quite as clear as those in PC2. I'll play around with the launch values and video settings a bit more, albeit I might be 'chasing my tail' but does anyone know whether setting a pixels override value in the Oculus debug tool, (say 1.5) as well as setting a value in the Steam launch option, makes a difference? Or do the launch values override / ignore it and vice-versa of course? Finally I use both a triple monitor set up and VR so I find myself having to change the Steam launch options, depending on what I want to use. It's no biggie but it's a hassle. Is there a way of creating two launch shortcuts / executables in Steam, i.e one for each of the respective launch options? I've tried creating a shortcut for each in Steam properties but, when used, they only launch whatever is set up in launch options at the time rather than what was present when the shortcut was saved. Many thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions.
Yes there are many different ways to try and get RR to run in VR. Personally I have to: 1. Close Oculus home. 2. Start Steam VR manually. 3. Exit out of Steam, not steam VR ( down in sys tray right click Steam icon and click exit) 4. Start RR by clicking desktop shortcut, or in my case Simcommander shortcut. Everything fires up nicely in 64 bit and honestly has never performed better! It looks fantastic with very stable 90fps, mostly medium settings. I use 1.5 in Steam VR SS. My RR startup option is just -vr.
Pumped up on 2.0 in Steam VR (starting option -vr monitor). Runs smooth with mainly full options in ASW. 19 Opponents grid, kicked out old GT3. What a pleasure. Is it possible that Steam VR 2.0 looks better than starting option 2.0? or give a better performance...? I had the feeling...
Sorry, i've don't seen your question, I don't find solution and the problem is still here with the Porsche update, but I just read at the end of this topic that we need to reduce car-reflection setting... I didn't try yet, it's not a fantastic solution because we lose the benefits of new car-reflection, but it can help to wait if it works ...
This is terrible bug as the track visually changes as you approach it. You have to turn up your reflection - not down. I’m on a nvidia titan and it’s over clocked - turning reflections to max means your running at 45fps which is awful (even with asw). Also it’s worth noting this doesn’t even always fix the issue. Literally between qualify and the race it will often return even with reflections set to medium (which looks heinous in my opinion).
ok guys have a another problem, raceroom will not start in vr , i have tried everything, always had this problem unless i quit stream then launch the game but now that doesn't work, i just get an error saying raceroom has stoped working a program caused the program to stop working. i can get it to start if i delete - vr from the lauch options but no vr, i have an oculus rift if that makes a difference
it is possible to get in the near future a readable position hud element, with a relative gap to the car behind and a car infront? I is not possible to drive a serios race in VR without a proper position list. the existing position on the top of the screen is useless in vr. Is there any third party plugins like the great crew chief to get this information in the cockpit?
One question to the VR specialists: I've tried some settings in Raceroom to max the 45 fps with AWS out. If I go to high I can see the frame dropping in Oculus tray tool overlay. But now I have a setting which is very stable with 45 fps, but shows something between -25 and 10 percent headroom. But stable 45 fps. Is this something I have to look for or is this okay?
I’ve done literally over 600 hours in VR. Both for work and sim racing. I would do everything I can to stay at 90fps. You are seriously short changing yourself by going to 45fps. For me the sense of speed, fidelity of cars perceived and actual movement, reaction times, and glancing to/understanding your surroundings are greatly reduced by 45fps. 45fps is simply not fast enough to make 1/4 second reaction times. Visually you are just guessing at that output. When I’m being competitive, I’m fighting 100ths of a second. Reduce settings until your at 90fps. In my experience with AC, Iracing and now raceroom you need at least 10% headroom on the gpu. This is due to when you collide with another car or drop tires off track creating dust, smoke, debri, skid marks. When either of these happen cpu/gpu load goes way up. I have a fairly beefy system and try and run about 80-85% gpu load when there are 15-18 cars near me. This allows for bandwidth during those moments when you need the most clarity. Just my take, there are a lot of people who are doing the asw 45fps and like it, but my experience is you’re short changing yourself of the actual simulation for a prettier picture. That’s a easy decision for me. Nathan
