Suggestion: Notify when someone beats your leaderboard time

It would create a little bit more of a competitive atmosphere on the leaderboards if you were notified when somebody beat your time. I think it'd be cool to get some rivalries going with a little back and forth for spots.

Edit: By the way, by notification I originally meant a simple News Feed item in your profile on game.raceroom.com and maybe somewhere in the game. Maybe it could work a little like Facebook notifications.

In theory we could end up with sending thousands of e-mails to just one user.

 

I think what he means is a notification system that sends one email (and only one) letting us know about the first person to beat our time.

 

How about a app for mobile phones?
It's build up like the RaceRoom site but designed for the size of a phone.
And there you get notifications like a SMS/Whatsapp massage if someone added you, a new competition, when a competition ended you have entered in and when someone beats your time, and maybe more!

What do you guys think about that?

Would be neat indeed, but seeing how many things are in dire need concerning the portal I doubt we should get hopes too high for something like this. But maybe they're actually working on it in the back, who knows.

Hm, that would indeed be a little less overwhelming, but I still think it'll be too much of a hassle. Do you get a notification if someone who was already ahead of you registers a better time? Do you get a notification for every leaderboard, or only the combined boards (bearing in mind that there are lb's for each car that are mixed into the class' lb, and the different difficulties)? So much details that have to be considered for what I personally think delivers relatively little additional comfort.

 

I still wish this was a thing. I find it fun to battle with some of the top guys in my favourite cars and tracks.

 

Would be nice indeed...Seeing all those other apps and homepages in the community workshop and knowing that the boards can be read from outside I was wondering if it couldn't be done by a talented app coder as a third party add-on. @pixeljetstream @Stefan Mizzi what do you think, could this be done?

 

I would say its quite possible, not a big thing to do. Just wish had more time......... Jim seems to not be busy lately

Since you don't do Web development, then I guess maybe you don't know what it entails to do a complex Web application.

For example, to do web animations, you can write complex Javascript libraries, using let's say d3. Of course then there is lots of back end stuff like Web Api and so forth.

In short, if you create a simple Web site, then yes, you're not a real programmer but if you do a complex one, then yes
