I've been wearing my motorcycle gloves, which are falling apart, while racing. I find it to work best for me. I'm about to buy a legit set of auto racing gloves exclusively for racing sims. I wan't something not too heavy, and since it ain't real, gauntlet style isn't necessarily a must.

    Suggestions?

I use gloves most of the time because I have a CSW and the rim is alacantra which doesn't do too well if getting sweaty all the time. After trying a few pairs I ended up using workmen gloves, they're excellent cos they feel like normal gloves but having a few fingerless tops I can easily use my keyboard, use my phone or twiddle my knobs on the rim ;)

I used a pair of Nomex Race gloves with my Fanatec CSRE and stock T500 rim and found them to very light and comfortable.

Nomex flight gloves are another option.

However after I switched to my Leather GT rim the rubber pads on the glove were too slippery so I switched to a pair of summer cycle gloves.

The plus side of race gloves are they are more comfortable to wear in winter / cooler temps and you feel a bit more 'racer' like by wearing them. You don't look it - but you feel it ;)

The cycle gloves are simply more user friendly though. As others have mentioned, having your finger tips free really makes a difference because you don't have to take a glove off every time you want to use the keyboard etc.

It doesn't really matter what gloves you get - as long as they fit and you can move your fingers easily to reach buttons/paddles.

I was driving my old Fanatec GT3RS wheel without gloves for years, but my sweating hands let the Alcantara become dirty or some kind of sticky. It was necessary to clean up the Alcantara after a few races.

Now with my CSW v2 i have 3 wheel rims with Alcantara and i decided to go for gloves. Since about 2 months i have the Alpinestars Tech 1-KX karting gloves and i'm quite happy with them.

It's only to mention that the grippy rubber/silicon stuff on palm gets off piece by piece after a while. But that's not a big problem.

BTW .... this is the same type of gloves @Georg Ortner is using in his videos. (see here) ;)

I use almost the same gloves as Ernie, the lighter and cheaper version:
    http://www.oreca-store.com/gants-alpinestars-tech-1-k-race.html

I have them since more than a year and I'm pretty happy (for a CSW V2). They lost the little grippy rubber too, but it's not a big deal at all

Before I used cycling glove, but the dedicated racing one are much better.
But If I had to change I might take higher ends one, with the seam on the outside, witch gave more confort on long session

There is engine mechanic gloves, some more luxurious that I used their perfect they have fabric back side and thin rubbed leather in hand,it's light and made to use with fine mechanic so it fit really well and is extremely comfortable. and best of all it is fairly cheap compared to racing gloves and they are very similar to racing gloves. and work perfect for simracing ;)

Try Karting gloves. Their generally cheaper than Car racing gloves because they don't have to be fire proof.

What about these thick shock absorbing gel pads? Doesn't it reduces the feeling for the wheel too much?

Sparco Blizzard KG3 gloves (and the matching shoes) here, and i like them pretty much. i've got them when i moved to Fanatec wheels/pedals, mainly because of the alcantra (and ofc immersion), now i cant even drive without them, it just doesn't feel right.
