One feature idea: more accurate hints where time is lost or gained, not just by sector.

 

It's been on the long-term list for a while, along with corner / section names and stuff. The logic is actually very tricky here as the app doesn't really know why you lost time so making the message appropriate for the context is hard

Youve done a great Job, with the driver names list you dropped that Tool to a rly must have for all of us, cant drive without them.

@mr_belowski you mean loosing time because of a car in front breaking earlier or so? Maybe one could only apply this logic when there is a big enough gap to the next car.

 

even then, the app can't tell the difference between you just being a bit slower in a section, or you making a mess of it. So the advice it gives might be a bit unnecessary a lot of the time.

 

With mess you mean you don't want to point out what is obvious.

 

I think just that there's no way to work out why you were slow in a particular section. You might be slowing to avoid an incident, to defend a position, because it's near the end of the race, because your tyres are going off, to save fuel (in future!), to be more cautious, to wave at your family etc.

If you were making a mistake then you know it more than your CC anyway, so it would only be relevant if it could be identified where you're losing time consistently on each lap.

Righty, next version is uploading now, will be up in 10 minutes. No major additions here, just some minor bug fixes and the new driver names.

The driver name packages should up to date with the spreadsheet and I should have fixed the issues. I say "should have" because I've been trying to stop my 4 year old destroying my nerd cave while doing this

Mr. Belowski , don't want to stress you but did you already fix the mix up with the names (see #454)? In the current version of the driver names file, there still I see the "Tsegowits.wav", instead of "Zegowitz.wav" (see No. 103 in the above mentioned excel file on Google drive).

If this has made it into the released package (it should have...) and your Raceroom name is Thomas Zegowitz, it should work

 

Yep, it seems you are right. My Raceroom name is Thomas Zegowitz and according to the log the mapping is working.

Hoping that your prog will be a integrated feature of RRRE, so that we are getting the updates automatically. And you deserved this as well!

 

Jim, loving your app Just 1 thing I noticed...sometimes I get like 5 messages one after each other.......now me being a bit slow....how possible would it be to pause maybe 1 second or so between these messages?

 

Very simple actually. Perhaps a configurable sleep between each message play when there's more than one in the queue. Might sound a bit pants but I'll have a look.

 

3.9.4 is now uploading - the no_sound_pack version is up, the bundled one will be 5 minutes.

This adds the "slow" mode that Stefan requested - it's disabled by default, just change the pause_between_messages property to some number of seconds (0.5 seems about right to me) if you're finding the messages are coming at you too quickly.

I also added a "what's my best lap" response.
